THE END TIMES 1 AND 2-THE GOLDEN AGE

(THE END TIMES)

In the first part of our film we saw how the countless portents giving the good news of the coming of the Mahdi have occurred one after the other and in a very short space of time. It appears from these portents that the coming of the Mahdi, described by the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, is close at hand.

(THE END TIMES II - THE GOLDEN AGE)

Many hadiths indicate the existence of a period when the Qur'an's values will pervade Earth. This period, known as the Golden Age, will last for more than half a century and, in many ways, will resemble the Blessed Period of our Prophet (saas). We call this period the Golden Age due to our Prophet's (saas) Paradise-like depictions of it.
In our day, the countless portents giving the good news of the coming of the Mahdi have occurred one after the other. It appears from these portents that the coming of the Mahdi, described by the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, is close at hand.

So, what effects will the coming of the Mahdi have on mankind and the world?

This film seeks an answer to that question.

It looks at the developments which will be experienced on a world scale following the appearance of the Mahdi, and examines the features of a period known as the “Golden Age.”

The Golden Age is a time when the moral values of the Qur’an will prevail and people will arrive at true faith. These two developments will give rise to some major physical results. You will see in this film how these extraordinary developments will come about.

THE END TIMES AND THE MAHDI

(THE END TIMES AND THE MAHDI)

The end times ...
According to Islam, this concept represents a time, near to Doomsday, when Qur’anic morality will come to prevail over all the world. The Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, has described it in considerable detail in the hadeeths, that is, his sayings. After the Prophet, a number of great Islamic scholars have given further accounts of the subject. All of these reveal that the end times will contain a number of consecutive events.
In the first stage of the end times, the world will become degenerate because of a number of philosophical systems that deny God. Mankind will move away from the purpose behind its creation, leading to a terrible spiritual emptiness and moral collapse. In the wake of great disasters, wars and suffering, mankind will seek the answer to just one question ‘Where does salvation lie?’
At that very moment of despair, God will charge a “spiritual entity” to call mankind out of the chaos and onto the true path; The Mahdi. The word means “he who leads people to the truth.”

Imam Mahdi

Imam Mahdi will come near the Day of Judgement. His name will be Muhammad. His mother's name will be Aminah and his father's name will be Abdullah. His title will be Al-Mahdi. Imam Mahdi will be from Fatimah's [RA] generation, which was the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Imam Mahdi will also be from Hasan's [RA] generation (Muhammad sallal lahu alayhi wa sallams grandson.)

Imam Mahdi will be an excellent, just, and generous ruler. His face will resemble to our Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Imam Mahdi will be born in Madina and will grow up there. When Imam Mahdi reaches the age of forty, the king of the Muslims in Madina will die. Everyone will want Imam Mahdi to become King, but Imam Mahdi will not want to become the king.

Imam Mahdi will go to Makkah and hide in a Muslim's house, but the Muslims will look for him and find him. The Muslims will take him to the Ka'bah and will all start to bear allegiance to him. When the Muslims will bear allegiance to him, a voice will be heard, "This is Allah's Khaleefah, so do whatever he says." Everyone will hear this voice.

Imam Mahdi will then become the King, and he will be very well known throughout the world. The King of Syria at that time will be envious of Imam Mahdi and will send an army to try and overthrow him. When the army reaches the area between Makkah and Madina, the entire army will sink except for two men. One man will go back to his King and tell him that the entire army has sunk. The other person will go to Makkah and tell Imam Mahdi that they came with an army, but it sank into the ground. He will then bear allegiance to him.

When people find this out that Imam Mahdi's enemy have sunk into the earth, he will become even better known and famous. This will happen at the time when the Christians will govern the land between the area of Syria, and city Khaybar, in Arabia. Turkey will also be under Christian rule.

Imam Mahdi will gather an army together to fight against the Christians. The king of Persia, (Iran) whose name will be Mansoor, will send a big army to help Imam Mahdi. When the Christians, find out that the Muslims are getting together, they will gather their army from Rome, Arabia, and other lands, and assemble in Syria. At this time, the Christian military will have seventy different flags. Under each flag there will be twelve thousand soldiers. Imam Mahdi will move from Makkah to Madina. From there, he will go to Syria. The war between both armies will take place near Damascus. One part of Imam Mahdi's army will run away, another part will be martyred, and the third part will defeat the Christians under Imam Mahdi's leadership. Imam Mahdi will win the war, but many Muslims will be martyred. After this Syrian war, Imam Mahdi will go with his army, to Istanbul and fight the non-Muslims there, with the help of Allah.

After all this a day will come when Imam Mahdi will hear the news that Dajjal has come. He will send five hundred people to find out if this news is true. When these people return, they will say that this news is false. Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said that, these five hundred people will have the highest status in the world at that time. When Imam Mahdi hears the news that the coming of the Dajjal is false, people will start living a better life, but after a very short while, Dajjal will appear.

Improvement in deeds

We cannot see Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) with our
sinful eyes but he, definitely, is observing us. If
somebody really believes that he is constantly being
watched by Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.), he will keep away
from quite a few sins. Good deeds are the only way to
gain proximity and nearness to Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.).
And who does not desire to be nearer to his Imam (a.s.)?
He (a.t.f.s.) himself has!!ADMONISHED US!!:

"Then each one of you should act in such a
way that your deeds bring you closer to our
love, and refrain from all those actions that
will bring you nearer to our wrath and
anger."

WHY OCCULTATION ?

The Almighty Allah has bestowed the human beings with a superiority and has kept the rest of the creation under him. He says,'I have created man with the best parts. Whether it is the earth or atmosphere, sea or the mountain, forest or the desert, man not only has superiority upon all these but they are subservient to his commands and power. But Allah has also said that when I turned around this man, I found him to be the worst of the creation.

To show the superiority and specialty of man he has been given the freedom of will and with it, complete guidance. In this way the path for him was laid out that he may not misuse his freedom and be led astray by the instigation of the Satan. By giving him intellect and reasoning he was made capable of discerning the good and the bad. And the chain of 1,24,000 Prophets was initiated so that they may show man a way of life to remain away from the evils so that he may remain safe from his enemies and be forewarned of their designs. And that the worldly fallacies do not hinder the progress of his spiritual self. Among those prophets some possessed medium age and some were given a long life. Some were recalled (died) at a young age.

There are even some who were first made apparent to the people then the curtain of occultation was put upon them. There were some prophets who were apparent for some few selected righteous people but were hidden from the common masses like Hazrat Khizr (AS.), Hazrat Idris (AS.) etc. Allah is the Ultimate Power. He is the Knower of the Unseen worlds. He Himself is aware of the calls of His justice. He is the one who made man His lowly creation aware of His Lordship and made him submit to His mastership and described him with His Own qualities. When the chain of the Prophets came to an end by the coming of the seal of the Prophets, the greatest among the messengers, Mohammad al Mustafa (S.A.W.) then His morals, His commandments and His book were protected by his successors.

The chain of successors shall remain till the end of the world. This is guaranteed by Allah Himself. Since the vicegerent is appointed by Allah therefore the divine in the persons who were to hold the post of Imamat. History is a witness that while some Prophets were given a long life, others lived for a shorter duration. There were some who were apparent and some hidden from the eyes of the people, and still are concealed today. If the number of hidden Prophets from the 1,24,000 Prophets is few then the number of hidden Imams is also very less. Out of the twelve Imams, Eleven were openly carrying out their duties of protecting the commandments of Allah. Only one of the Imams has been concealed. The Holy Prophet (SAW.) has prophesied that eleven of the twelve Imams will protect religion in their own time amidst turbulent environs and murderous surroundings. And by the quality of their personality they constructed the minarets of light which will illuminate the truth in the dark periods of history till the end of the world. Even among the Imams the different spans of life and duration of Imamat is to be found. Just like it was in the case of Prophets. The age of Imam Hasan al Askari (AS.) was only 28 years. His period of Imamat was for six years from 254 A.H. to 260 A.H. After him the Imamat of his exalted son began who was born in 255 A.H. And he is the last Imam.

His age was only five years then. And his long life is known only to Allah. When he will reappear he will fill the earth with justice and equity like it had been filled with injustice and oppression. Although even today he is the supreme ruler and we all live in the limits of his domain. The gates of these apparent and concealed rule are ghaibat (occultation) and Zuhoor (reappearance).

One thing is astonishing here, that the intellectuals are washed away in the torrents of thoughts. The human voice in them speaks out. Each and every person of this group knows that faultless people are being oppressed. They are dealt with cruelty. They are helpless and their pain and restlessness is apparent. Their plundered homes, the burning embers of hunger in their bellies, the whiteness spread on their eyes. The wretched children clinging to their mothers. Empty bowls in their hands, searching for their destination, where there is justice, there is equity. Where their talents are nurtured, where their voices are heard by someone, where there is a cool shade of peace.

From the cracks of the walls of all religions emerge these calls. And the progress of the caravan of the human beings continues towards its destination. The pathways of which are manifest, but the end of the journey not in sight. If this had not been the case then these efforts and these preparations all would have subsided. And no hope would have remained (the spirit of hope is one reason of occultation). It is a strange logic indeed. The three factors which are hidden are believed in viz. ·

The human species especially the support of the oppressed ·

The hope of the ultimate destination. ·

The image of the liberator.

But on reaching this point the belief is shaken down, where the question of the liberator arises. The so-called intellectuals insist that such a personality does not exist at all. It is only in Islam that this religion gives all the details of such a personality and also indicates the time and spatial dimensions of his existence. And he is recognised in a way like the sun is seen behind the clouds. The Muslim scholars in general and the Shia scholars in, particular have researched into the authenticity of this fact, from the historical as well as the traditional point of view and then believed in it.

And this belief is based on such a firm foundation that no one can forgo it. The fact is that the light of his holy self (Hazrat Mahdi) filters through the curtain of the divinely ordained occultation, illuminates the creation and imparts life to it. Here one question acquires paramount importance and is also raised with great prejudice and that is, who is the representative of Allah and the saviour of the downtrodden and oppressed people ? If he exists then why is he not seen by everyone, why is he in occultation, why is the occultation so prolonged that it seems impossible, what are the reasons of all these?

First of all, we have already stated in the introduction that whatever was made necessary for the Prophets (AS.) the same things are also for the successors of the Prophets. History is replete with examples where the moment a Prophet raised his voice for propagation, all the unbelievers took up cudgels with him and conspiring with the tyrant rulers tried all means to put hurdles in his way. But the Prophets never gave up their mission. They kept on striving. They never wavered in their steps nor were they haunted by any doubts. Their firmness of purpose never decreased. There is no instance in history where these Prophets have been subdued by the power of the rulers or the opposition of the people. However if the adversities intensified, the Prophet either prayed for divine punishment, or bore the difficulties patiently till death, or were hidden from their people by Allah.

The event of Hazrat Musa (A.S.) leaving Egypt has been recorded in the Quran. Hazrat Isa (A.S.) was raised to the fourth sky. Hazrat Khizr and Hazrat Ilyas (A.S.) are present in this world itself but are not been by everyone since ages.

If we study the history of Imam Mahdi (A.T.F.S.) and the background of his occultation, we shall find that its historical causes were the same as that of the various Prophets.

Samarra became the seat of power for Bani Abbas in 220 A.H. In 234 A.H. the Abbaside Caliph Mutawakkil sent Yahya bin Harsma to summon Imam Ali Naqi (AS.) to Samarrah Imam Hasan Askari (AS.) was also with him [(Imam Ali Naqi A.S.)]. He was only two years old. In 247 A.H. Mutawakkil was murdered while intoxicated. During these fourteen years, Imam Hasan Askari (AS.) faced great difficulties alongwith his father, There were restrictions on visiting the tomb of Imam Husain (A.S.). The signs of the grave were obliterated. Imam Hasan Askari and Imam Ali Naqi (A.S.) were in house arrest and were heavily guarded. Sometimes, Mutawakkil imprisoned them and at other times summoned them to his court. Sometimes he called them while he sat enjoying wine in their presence. And on their refusal to accept his offer of the intoxicants he cried in ecstasy.

Spies surrounded them. After the murder of Mutawakkil, Muntasir and later Mustaeen became the Caliphs. Mustaeen shifted the seat of his government to Baghdad. Later, he entered into allegiance with Motazbillah and Samarra again became the centre of Caliphate. A reign of terror was unleashed in the town of Basra. There were revolts in Khurasan and Ahwaz which were immediately suppressed. No hilace was safe for the common people Imam Hadi (AS.) was martyred in the year 254 A.H. The duration of the Imamate of Imam Hasan Askari (AS.) was from 254 A.H. to 260 A.H. Walie-Asr and the Promised Mahdi was born in the year 255 All His age was only 5 years when Imam Hasan Al Askari (AS.) left this world.

Imam Hasan AI-Askari (A S) was poisoned at the order of Motamid in 260 A.H. and his duration of Imamate came to an end after six years. During this time the activities of the spies had intensified to such an extent that midwives used to enter the Imams house forcibly and examine if any of his wives were pregnant. But like Allah had concealed Hazrat Musa (AS.) in the womb of his mother, Janabe Narjis showed no outward signs of pregnancy.

The spies were spread from the residence of the Imam upto the prison. Once Imam Hasan Askari (AS.) was in the prison of Saleh bin Vaseef (a Turk). Imprisoned in this place from before were some of his trusted companions Abu Hashim Jafri, Dawood bin Qasim, Hasan bin Mohammad Aqiqi and Mohammad bin Ibrahim Amri. A person by the name of Jami was also there. Imam warned his companions to beware of this man because he was a spy. On inquiry it was found that he kept a record of the daily happenings there. Thus spies were there in every disguise. Hazrat Askari (AS.) fell ill on the 1st of Rabiul Awwal. During these eight days the Caliph had posted a battalion of guards who kept strict surveillance on the visitors. Why did the Abbaside Caliph behave in such a manner towards the son of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.)? A tradition from the Holy Prophet (SAW.) says that whatever has happened in the Ummat of Musa (AS.) will occur in My Ummat. Like Firon knew that Hazrat Musa (AS.) will rise to put an end to his claim of divinity, in the same way the Caliph was time and again reminded by the narrators of hadith that the 12th successor of the Holy Prophet (SAW.) is to come and purify this earth from all injustice and oppression.

The prophecy of Holy Prophet (SAW.) has to materialise one day. The caliphs felt the imminent danger to themselves and took all the possible precautions.

When such a terror was spread everywhere the birth of Imam Mahdi (AS.) occurred in 255 A.H. [Like the concealed birth of Hazrat Musa (ASH. One of the divine duties of Imam Hasan Askari (AS.) was the protection of Hazrat Hujjat (A.T.F.S.) from the enemies. At the same time he had to inform his trusted followers that the Promised Mahdi has been born so that they could follow him in future even though he would remain concealed from them.

The conditions which had prevailed at the occultation of the Prophets were also present here. The reign of terror among the people, the strict surveillance of the ruler, the net of spies, discord in every area, the rising of the Imam at the centre of Caliphate, the movement of the armies, the oppressions upon the lovers of the household of the Holy Prophet (SAW.), The guards upon the residence of Imam (AS.). Like in the case of Prophet Musa (AS.) the divine command arrived for Hazrat Hujjat to go into occultation in order to protect his life.

Occultation a divine plan

If we study the aspects of the occultation and reflect upon it, we can easily understand it as a divine plan. After this the reappearance of the Imam shall be the last part of this divine plan. It is mentioned in a tradition

There is no miracle of the Prophet which Allah will not manifest through Our Oaem so that the proof will be complete for the enemies and they have no avenue for excuses. (Muntakhabul Athar, page 313)

As time progressed and the numerous human schools of thoughts came into existence, the nefarious plans of the unjust authorities also evolved. After the Holy Prophet (SAW.), a time came when during the occultation, different types of conspiracies were hatched. Different types of wrong beliefs led astray the gullible public away from the right path. Instead of the true guides there was now an excess of the false ones-the Kaisaniyas, the Kazemiya, Ismailiya, Wahabism, Bahaism and Oadianism the list of the false movements seems endless. After suppressing the constructive missions the unjust and tyrannical instances began to fill the pages of history. Even after 12 centuries, all these are still rampant.

In the end the saviour will arrive to put an end to all this. The rule of Allah will stretch from the east to the west. No one would be qualified to oppose him and neither would anyone have any complaints.

Divine promise

The divine promise throws light upon the reasons of the occultation which is an inseparable part of the plan. There is always an interval of time between a promise and its fulfillment. These are a few examples of the divine promises in the miraculous book (the Quran): ·

In Surah Nur Verse: 55
Allah has promised to those of you who believe and do good that He will most certainly make them rulers in the earth... ·

In Surah Ambiya Verse:105
And certainly We wrote in the book after the reminder that (as for) the land, My righteous servants shall inherit it. ·

In Surah Aale Imran Verse: 200
0 those who believe remain steadfast, have patience, maintain cooperation and fear Allah. Perhaps you be successful. ·

When the earth dies Allah again rejeunates it by His power.

From the aforementioned verses, we conclude that Allah will make His representative and successor inherit the earth and bestow upon him a just and equitable Kingdom. He will revive the earth after its death and in the rule of this government there would be no difference between the strong and the weak. And those who have power will not be able to exploit the downtrodden people.

The promise of Allah is true. It would be surely fulfilled. But the various factors of the reappearance are being accomplished, which are going to be instrumental in the establishment of the divine government. Allah has bestowed a prolonged occultation to His Last Proof (Hujjat) so that the belief of the believers could be put to a test and all the opponents can try all their designs.

It is a naked truth that the floods of injustice and oppression is increasingly engulfing the whole world. But the seas of injustice and oppression has not yet developed the power enough to break the boundaries and surround the earth. Or we can say that the caravans of utter darkness, along with their blackness, have yet to descend upon the earth. And only when the wrongdoers would have completed their oppressions to the utmost, that the secret aim of occultation would be revealed.

What would have happened if there had been no occultation ? The reply is simple. Hazrat Wali Asr (A.S.) would have become manifest and just like the previous Imams he also would have been martyred. The light of Allah was in the form of human creation and the evil ones were on its look-out. The result would have been that even the last proof of the Prophets and the Imams would not have remained on the earth. The result would have been either of the two. One, the earth would have perished. Or, the future generations would have complained that the argument of Allah has not been completed. Hence, the Almighty Allah has kept His proof in occultation so that on one hand the continuity of the world is maintained and on the other hand all the corrupt and evil people have an open field so that there is no scope for the complaint that the proof of Allah is not complete. At the time of the reappearance they will not have any arguments. And the propriety of divine justice shall be maintained.

Another reason for occultation as stated in the traditions of AhleBayt is if Imam-e-Zamaan (A.T.F.S.) had been manifested, then he would have had to live under pressure of some unjust ruler like his predecessors. The agents of the ruler would keep him constantly under surveillance. The open enforcement of the shariat was almost impossible. Thus Allah has appointed such a time for his reappearance where there does not remain any power to obstruct the Imam in his mission. He would have collected the necessary strength to subdue all opposition and every corner of the world would be clear of the evil elements. Imam Jafar Sadiq (A.S.) Says in one of his utterances:

The master of this divine government has a concealed birth so that when he is to reappear he will not have any pressure from any oppressor. (Muntakhabul Athar, page 288)

As far as the necessary preparations of this government are concerned Allah will create the favourable conditions overnight. For it is actually the government of Allah. Hazrat Mahdi (A.T.F.S.) Is only the representative of Allah in this regard.

One of the reasons that is evident from the traditions of AbleBayt is that the occultation is to be prolonged till all the practices of the prophets and their methods are accomplished in Hazrat Mahdi (A.T.F.S.). Sudair asked Imam Sadiq (A.S.) '0 son of the Prophet why it is like that (the occultation is prolonged) ?" Imam replied, "Allah will not order the reappearance till all the practices of the Prophets, which the prophets had during their occultations are not acted upon fully. 0 Sudair it is obligatory for him (Qaem) to fulfill all these things.

Allah says:

That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. (Inshiqaq: 19). (Behaarul Anwaar vol.52 page 90)

That means all those practices were before you when will all this be accomplished is known to none except Allah. That is why to predict the time of reappearance is prohibited.

Some other reasons of the occultation are deduced from the traditions of AbleBayt. But to go into the details and the depths of these and to say anything for sure would be nothing but to deceive ourselves. The actual causes of the occultation and the wisdom behind it is known only to the Creator and those divine personalities who have been bestowed with divine knowledge. The infallibles (A.S.) have been ordered not to explain these divine secrets.

This could be explained by the example of the incident of Hazrat Musa and Hazrat Khizr (A 5) When H Khizr made the hole in the boat, killed the boy and repaired the wall he did not inform of his main intention behind his actions, till it was time for Musa to separate from him. At the time of departing he told H. Musa the actual reasons. This concept could be explained in the light of the tradition related from Imam Sadiq (A.S.) by Al-Fazl Hashmi which is as follows:

'The occultation of the master of this affair is a must, during which the sinful people will be involved in doubts."

I asked Imam, "May my life be sacrificed for you, why is it?

He said:"Even we have not been permitted the exposition of this affair." I inquired, "What is the wisdom behind the occultation ?" He said, "The wisdom behind this occultation is the same that was for the occultation of the previous prophets. The actual reason will be revealed only after the reappearance. Like Hazrat Khizr did not explain the reason for making a hole in the boat and killing the boy and repairing the wall till it was time for Musa (AS.) and him to separate

0 Son of Fazl, this affair is one of the affairs of Allah. And its secret reason is one of the secrets the knowledge of which is exclusive to Allah only. When we have expressed the belief in the wisdom of Allah we have to agree that whatever he says or does is also having wisdom. Even though the actual reasons and the cause may not be evident upon us." (Behaarui Anwaar vol.52 page 91)

As far as the obvious reasons of occultation as given in the traditions are concerned one is that during the occultation the belief in Imam (AS.) and his obedience is put to test. In a lengthy tradition Imam Jafar as Sadiq (AS.) tells about the signs of reappearance and concludes thus:

And these signs will appear after a long occultation so that Allah could test as to who believes in him and obeys him during it (the Ghaibat). (Muntakhabul Athar Chap.35hadith:1)

Another reason of occultation is also our bad deeds and the atmosphere of irreligiousness. Our society is satisfied upon the prevailing un-Islamic conditions and considers them to be truly Islamic. Then where is the scope for any prophet or Imam in such a society. It would not be inappropriate to compare this with the situation of Kufa. Ali (AS.) was calling the people to Jihad against Moawiya and the people were exhibiting their cowardice by making excuses of the summer and winter seasons and looking for a favourable season. The result of this was that the Master of the most pious had to accept the cup of Martyrdom. The same is the condition of our society which, Imam Baqir (A.S.) states in his tradition. Marwan Anbari says that a letter from Imam Baqir (AS.) arrived where Imam had written:

"When Allah disliked the company of the people for us he removed us away from them." (Behaarul An waar vol.52 page 90).

Finally, it is to be mentioned that Imam-e-Zaman himself does not like, that the people should insist upon knowing the reasons for occultation because it is one of the divine secrets. According to Imam-e-Zaman (A.T.F.S.).

Allah the High and Mighty does not wish that we question about the (causes of) Ghaibat because it would be detrimental for us. If we know of the reason we would be aggrieved. One tradition in this connection is presented thus: Imam Mahdi (A.T.F.S.)

In a 'tawqee (epistle) through his second special deputy, Mohammad bin Usman says: "As far as the cause of occultation is concerned Allah, the Almighty says,

0 you who believe! do not put questions about things which if declared to you may trouble you... (Behaarul Anwaar vol.52 page 92)

It is clear from the above tradition that we should not indulge conjectures about the causes of occultation. However, we should accept as truth all that is informed to us by the infallible Imams and we should be satisfied with it. Only Allah is aware of the divine affairs. Hence we should consider this occultation as a bounty and a respite which is given to us, so that we can perform good deeds and correct our mistakes. Then, when the reappearance of Imam is ordered by Allah our love for the Imam would benefit us. If the reappearance occurs during our lifetime we would then be given the honour to be among the helpers of Imam (A.T.F.S.) in his mission against the enemies of Islam. We could accompany the Imam (A.S.) when he avenges the death of the martyrs of Karbala, for whom we mourn and shed tears, year after year.

Let us then resolve that we shall pray night and day for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (A.S.). We shall do everything which takes us nearer to the Imam (A.S.). And avoid all such acts which would take us away from our Master Imam Mahdi (AS.). So if we ponder upon this we would realise that there is no one who cares for us except this benevolent Imam. We should not dissatisfy him with our deeds. Because if our Imam (AS.) turns away from us (disregards us) then we shall have no shelter.

The Outcome of Loving the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.)

Removing the Sins
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Loving my Ahl al-Bayt removes sins and doubles good actions.
Imam al-Sadiq (A.S.): Loving us, the Ahl al-Bayt, removes the servants' sins just as a strong wind drops the leaves of trees.

Purity of the Heart
Imam al-Baqir (A.S.): There is no servant who would love and obey us, unless Allah would cleanse his heart, and Allah would do that only to those who obeyed us and surrendered to us. Such a person would be saved from the great Fear on the Day of Reckoning.

Peace of Mind
Imam Ali (A.S.): When this verse was revealed: Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find peace(28:13), the Holy Prophet(S.A.W.) said: This verse is about someone who sincerely loves Allah and his Prophet, and loves my Ahl al-Bayt and the believers whether being present or absent. Lo! Remembering Allah makes them love one another.
Wisdom
Imam al-Sadiq (A.S.): Whoever would love the Ahl al-Bayt and harbor it in his heart, will have his faith renewed and springs of wisdom will flow from his tongue.

Completion of the Faith
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Loving me and my Ahl al-Bayt, is [the sign of] completion of faith.

Happiness at the Time of Death
Abd Allah ibn Walid: During the reign of Marwan, we came to "Abu 'Abd-Allah [Imam al-Sadiq(A.S.)], he asked: Who are you? We replied we are from Kufah. He said: In no other town do we have as many supporters as in Kufah, especially the present group. Allah has guided you to something which others are not aware of. You love us whereas other people are our enemies, you follow us and others disobey us, you agree with us while others do not. May Allah make your life and death similar to ours. I testify that my father used to say: Whoever of you whose breath reaches here-pointing to his Throat-, before taking the last breath shall behold something which would make him happy. Allah the Supreme and the High has said in His Book" And indeed we sent messengers before you, and we gave them wives and offspring" (13:38). We are the offspring of the Messenger of Allah(S.A.W.).
The Intercession of the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.)
The messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Cling to our Ahl al-Bayt's friendship; because whoever would meet Allah on Doomsday loving us, shall go to Paradise by our intercession.

Luminosity on the Day of Judgment
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Lo! I swear by Allah, no servant would love my Ahl al-Bayt unless Allah, the Glorious and the most High, would bestow on him a light which places him at my side near "the Hawz" on the Day of Judgment. Allah would be hidden from all those servants who are enemies of my Ahl al-Bayt.

Security on the Day of Judgment
Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Know that whoever loves Muhammad's (S.A.W.) family[A.S.] shall be protected in the Reckoning, the scale and the Pathway (Sirat).
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Loving me and my Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) will be beneficial on seven horrible occasions: In the agony of death, in the grave, on the Resurrection Day, the Reckoning time, when the book of deeds is presented, at the scale, and on crossing over the Sirat.
Being Steady on "The Sirat"
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): The steadiest one on''the Sirat" is a person who loves my Ahl al-Bayt most.
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): If a person who loves Ahl al-Bayt falters [on Sirat] the love of my Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.) would stabilize his next step till he is saved by Allah on the Day of Judgment.

Deliverance from the Hell-Fire
Bilal-ibn Hamamah: One day the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) came to us laughing and cheerful. Abd al-Rahman bin Awf asked: Why are you so happy O Messenger of Allah? The Holy Prophet replied: A glad tiding has been given to me by Allah. When Allah wanted to bind Ali (A.S.) and Fatima (A.S.) in a marriage, He ordered an angel to shake the tree of Tuba (knowledge) in the Paradise. The angel did as was ordered and the written leaves were scattered around. Allah created the angels to pick and keep them till the Day of Judgment. On that Day they should search among the people and give one leaf to each of our true friends and followers. On those leaves this sentence is written: "This paper is the deed of security from the Hell Fire and it is written by my brother and cousin [Ali(A.S.)], and my daughter. [Fatima Zahra (A.S.)] to deliver the men and women of my Ummah from the Hell-Fire.
To be Grouped with Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.)
Imam 'Ali (A.S.): the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) took the hands of Hasan (A.S.) and Husayn (A.S.) and said: Whoever loves me, these two sons and their parents, will be of equal rank with me on the Resurrection Day.
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Whoever would love the Ahl al-Bayt for the sake of Allah will be grouped with us and we shall take him to Paradise with us.
Imam al-Husayn(A.S.): Whoever would love us for the sake of worldly gains should know that worldly people are loved by good persons and evil doers and whoever loves us for the sake of Allah he and us will be together on the Day of Judgement.
Hakam ibn Utaybah: I was in Imam al-Baqir's(A.S.) presence and his room was packed with visitors. Suddenly an old man leaning on his walking stick came in and said: Peace be upon you! O son of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.), May Allah's bounties and mercy be upon you! And he remained silent. Imam al-Baqir (A.S.) replied: Peace be upon you and may Allah's bounties and mercy be upon you too.
Then the old man faced the crowd in the room and said: Peace be upon you all and remained silent. Till all who were present greeted him back. Then he turned to Imam al-Baqir(A.S.) and said: "O son of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.)! May I be sacrificed to you! Let me sit close to you, because I love you and I love those who love you, and I swear to Allah that I do not love you and your followers out of a desire for worldly gains. I swear to Allah I hate your enemies and I swear to Allah that this hatred and reluctance is not the result of hatred and animosity between me and them. I swear to Allah I consider lawful whatever you consider lawful, and I consider unlawful whatever you consider unlawful, and I wait for your order: May I be sacrificed to you! Do you have any hope for my salvation in such conditions? Imam al-Baqir (A.S.) said: Come closer! Come closer! And asked him to sit next to himself and then said: O Sheikh (old man): Once a man came to Ali ibn al-Husayn(A.S.) and asked my father a question as yours. My father told him: When you depart from this world, you shall meet the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) and Ali (A.S.), al-Hasan(A.S.) and al-Husayn(A.S.). Your heart shall be filled with joy and shall be soothed and you shall have clear visions, and when your breath reaches here- the Imam pointed to his throat-the noble writers [Kiram al-Katibin] will welcome you warmly and enthusiastically, and if you remain alive, you shall see something [the advent of Qa'im(A.S.) and the government of Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.)] by which Allah shall light up your life and shall be of the highest rank with us.
The old man said: What did you say O Imam Abu Ja'far? And he repeated what he had said before. The old man said: Allah is the greatest, O Abu Ja'far! When I leave this world will I see Ali (A.S.), al-Hasan(A.S.) Messenger of Allah(S.A.W.) and Ali ibn al-Husayn(A.S.); and will I be with al-Husayn(A.S.) and my heart be soothed and when my breath reaches here the Noble Writer welcome me, and if I remain alive will I witness something which lights up my life and will be at the highest status along with you ?! At this time the old man started to weep and fell on the ground. Those who were present started to weep loudly. Imam al-Baqir(A.S.) wiped the tears from the eyelids of the old man with his own hand.
The old man then raised his head and said to Imam al-Baqir(A.S.): O son of the Messenger of Allah(S.A.W.); may I be sacrificed to you! Give me your hand. The Imam stretched his hand. The old man kissed it and placed it on his eyes and cheeks; then uncovered his chest and belly and placed the Imam's hand on them. Then he stood up and took his leave.
Imam al-Baqir(A.S.) looked at his back and said to the people there: Whoever likes to see a man who will go to Paradise, should see this man. Hakam ibn 'Utaybah says: I have never seen such a lamentation rite in my whole life.
Paradise
Hudhayfa: I saw that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) took Husayn Ibn 'Ali's hand and said: O people! Husayn's grandfather is dearer to Allah than the grandfather of Joseph the son of Jacob. Al-Husayn shall reside in paradise as his parents, his brother, their followers and those who love them will be residents in Paradise.
Imam Ali (A.S.): Whoever loves us deeply and helps us by his words and fights against our enemies, shall have the same status as ours in the Paradise, and whoever loves us and helps us by his words but does not fight against our enemies, shall be two levels below them; and whoever loves us but does not help us either in fighting against our enemies, or by his speech, shall go to paradise too.
Yunus: I said to Imam al-Sadiq (A.S.): The love I feel toward you and the understanding that I have of your rights is far better to me than the kingdom of the world, then I noticed signs of anger on Imam's face. He said: O Yunus! This is not a good comparison. What is world and all that belongs to it? Isn't it but filling the stomach and covering the private parts? Whereas you can attain eternal life through loving us.
The Good of this World and of the Next World
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Whoever wishes to have trust in Allah should love my Ahl al-Bayt and whoever wishes to be saved from the torment in the grave should love my Ahl al-Bayt, and whoever wishes to attain wisdom should love my Ahl al-Bayt and whoever wishes to go to Paradise without being reckoned should love my Ahl al-Bayt. Because I swear to Allah, none of those who loved them failed to be winners in this world and Hereafter.

The General Effects of Loving the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.)
The Messenger of Allah(S.A.W.): Whomsoever Allah would destine to love my Ahl al-Bayt, have doubtlessly gained the good of this world and that of the next world and no one should have any doubt that they shall be residents of paradise; because loving my Ahl al Bayt shall result in twenty consequences: ten in this world and ten in the world to come:
But its results in this world are: piety, eagerness for work and doing good deeds, devoutness to the religion, eagerness to worship, repentance before death, finding joy in nocturnal devotion, paying no attention to others' assets, abiding by the orders and prohibitions enjoined by Allah the High and the Great; the ninth having enmity towards the world and the tenth is generosity and mercifulness.
But its outcomes in the next world are: The book of his deeds will not be opened before him, no scale will be set up for him, the book of his deeds will be placed in his right hand, the draft for freedom of the Hell Fire will be written for him, he will be honored for his good deeds, he will be clad in heavenly garments, his intercession for one hundred persons of his family will be accepted, Allah, the Glorious and the Almighty will look at him with love and tenderness; the crowns of heaven will be placed on his head and then he will enter the Paradise without being reckoned. So blessed are those who love my Ahl al-Bayt.
Imam Ali (A.S.) to Harith Anwar: Your love for us shall doubtlessly benefit you on three occasions: When the Angel of death descends, at the time of questioning in the grave and when you will stand in Allah's presence.

Ahadith - The Earth is Guarded Because of the Awliya Allah

Ahadith - The Earth is Guarded Because of the Awliya Allah

Obedience to the Ameer

Obedience to the Ameer

PROTECTION FOR THE EARNED VIRTUES, MERITS AND GOOD DEEDS:

Allah is the creator (generator), administrator (operator) and destructor of this entire
universe. After destruction of this entire creation of this universe, he will create a day of
judgment called as a qayamat day. On the day of judgement, every body will be
questionable in front of him for their affairs during the worldly life. The full account of
their deeds, merits, virtues and sins will be given. Those whose merits, virtues and good
deeds are more than their sins, they will be awarded paradise (jannah) and those with
dominating sins will be thrown in the hell fire- a place of torments.
So, it is absolutely necessary that we must save our good deeds and merits. The earned
merits and good deeds may be wiped out if we cannot protect them. When we earn
money or property, we make arrangements to save them or protect them. In the same way
we have to protect our earned good deeds and good virtues or merits.
How are the good deeds, merits and virtues destroyed?
(1) In holy quran, there is a mentioning - In holy book quran, in ayat two of surah
Hujarat, “ ya ayyohallajina aamanu la
tarfau aswaatakum……. Wa antum laa tashourun” states that “o believers, do
not keep your voice louder than the voice of nabi(Pbuh) while talking to him as
usually you talk loudly to each other while you talk to each other, lest your
good deeds should be destroyed and you even cannot know”
This ayat is alarming us that even to speak louder in front of nabi(pbuh) is
treated as insult to him and becomes a reason to destroy our good deeds. Now
think of those who speak displeasing words about our prophet by one or other
way. What will happen to those people ? Their good deeds are vanished
without their knowledge. They will know this thing at the time of day of
judgement. Normally, if someone drinks wine, a sin will be written in his or her
account as wine is prohibited in Islam but this sin will not erase his or her good
deed like salaat(namaaz), fastings etc. This clearly implies that to insult or to
displease nabi or any friend of Allah becomes so great sin that cause all
previous merits(sawaab) of good deeds destroyed.
(2) There is a hadis “Those who do not respect the elders and do not show
mercy towards the young ones are not among us”
This clearly implies us that the holy Prophet Mohammed (Pbuh) informed us to
respect the elders and show mercy on the little ones so that we can get place
near the Prophet. The young people must respect the elders and the elders
must show mercy towards the youngsters.
So, we must behave properly in the society so that our good deeds can be protected till
the day of judgement.
In fact, it is a qualification given by the Allah to the elders that they are born earlier than
the younger ones and hence must be respected. Hence normally, it was a tradition that an
oldest son is set on the throne of the king. It is usually a tradition that an oldest son
(senior most) is given khilaphat of a saint. Under the unavoidable circumstances only,
this tradition is not followed.
When a saint decides to confer his khilaphat (deputy) to suitable person from his
followers, he keeps in mind the important hadis of our beloved Prophet mentioned above
“Those who do not respect the elders and do not show mercy towards the young
ones are not among us”
Hence under the normal situation, the khilaphat is bestowed upon the eldest or the most
senior person. If the eldest person has the disability like madness or weakness greater
than average to perform duties, the regular tradition is not adopted. Otherwise, the
tradition is adopted under normal circumstances. Our Prophet has taken care to stop
dictatorship of the elders upon the younger, and hence the mercy has to be shown upon
the younger.
When the senior or eldest son is deprived of the khilaphat (throne) and the younger is set
on the throne, the abnormal situation of respecting the younger by the elder sons will
arise which is contradicting the hadis of the holy Prophet of Islam. Any work or system
done against our holy Prophet’s hadis cannot obtain natural barakah (blessings). Natural
barakah (blessings) are obtained if a system or work is done in accordance with the hadis.
In present day Saudi Arabian System, the successor of the king is made to whom who is
eldest in the king and his brothers’ family. Hence, if the king demise and his brother is
living and the eldest son is also living, whoever is older in age is made a successor of the
king. In doing so, knowingly or unknowingly, the hadis in (2) above is followed and
hence natural blessings in governing the country is obtained. Our holy Prophet’s hadis is
general. We know that the dignity (darjaat) level based on piety (taqwa) is totally spiritual
thing and general public cannot know whose taqwa is great and whose taqwa is inferior.
But yet our Prophet (pbuh) mentioned this hadis implies that this hadis is based on the
age as a qualification. The one whose age is more must be respected by those whose age
is less. This is a general hadis. There is a group of people whose ages are 55, 50, 49.5, 42,
30, 25. Then Person who has 55 years age must be respected by all other 5 persons.
Person with 50 years as age must be respected by people who has age below to him, i.e.
by 4 people. And person who has 25 year of age has to respect all persons. The natural
blessings is reduced due to the fact that this tradition is slowly and slowly vanishes away
from the society. This is to be practiced generally in every house of Muslim ummah. The
houses in which this general hadis is not obeyed, the (blessings) barakah from such
houses go away.
It must be noted that Saudi Arabian System must not be considered as an Ideal. The Ideal
System in Islam is democracy. Islam introduced democracy to entire world by election of
the leaders known as khalipha. But the khilaphat system lasted for first four pious
khaliphas only. Then dictatorship was created by Yazid bin Muawiah. Later, Abbasi and
Osmani Khilaphat time arrived in Islam. That khilaphat was like kingship and not like
democratic. So, something is better than nothing. When such system is running, then it
should be at least consider this hadis in selecting a leader. Even in democracy, the leader
of democratic party is senior most person. We should consider this hadis in deciding party
leader. Once party leader is selected, the election is the ultimate decision factor. In
deciding first four pious khalipha, this hadis was implemented in electing them. Hazarat
Abu Bakar(RA) was senior than Omar(RA) and this seniority was also considered.
Hazarat Abu Bakar (RA) had delivered a speech before he was elected. He might have
said such things. In our houses, some rich people have their big business, industries etc.
To run such business, the leader is required. In deciding leader, this hadis can be
implemented.

THERE WILL BE NO INJUSTICE IN THE TIME OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)

ADNAN OKTAR: Because there will be no injustice in the time of Hazrat Mahdi (as). Hazrat Mahdi (as) is the same thing as justice, he is justice incarnate.

ADNAN OKTAR: There are many hadith handed down from our Prophet (saas) and narrated by Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah and in the Sunan al-Nasaa’i and Sunan Abu Dawud saying that the most widely manifested virtue of Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be justice. That is his first duty, to being justice. That includes economic justice, social justice and judicial justice. All kinds of justice. It is an attribute of Hazrat Mahdi (as), which is why the whole of the Ummah is awaiting the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) with such excitement. Insha’Allah. There is currently terrible disorder and tension in the Islamic world. There are sectarian conflicts, but how will there be any sectarian conflicts once Hazrat Mahdi (as) asks them to stop?

REPORTER: Definitely.

ADNAN OKTAR: It is out of the question. Totally impossible. This is a system in which America will be able to live at ease. A system in which Israel and Russia and China will be at ease. China will grow and prosper enormously economically. I mean, they will abide by his request as soon as he makes it. There is nothing coarse about Hazrat Mahdi (as). That is clear from the account. We are told he will not wake the sleeper. Literally, if someone is asleep, he will not wake them up. He will tell everyone not to touch him but to let him carry on sleeping. He will tell them to let him wake up naturally. The accounts say he will not spill a drop of blood. They say Hazrat Mahdi (as) will not even cause anyone’s nose to bleed, so careful will he be in those days. But he will still have a devastating power. He will possess the strongest military power, human power and political power in the world. But he will use this for the advantage of Muslims, Jews and Christians. Communists will also be able to relax. Marxists. And atheists. Everyone will be able to relax, insha’Allah…

LOVE WILL CAUSE ISLAMIC MORAL VALUES TO PREVAIL ON EARTH

According to what is revealed in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas), the Mahdi will appear in the End Times and cause Islamic moral values to prevail on Earth. With the coming of the Mahdi, all oppression and injustice in the world will come to an end and be replaced by justice, peace, love and security.

In the Qur’an, Almighty Allah (God) has revealed that He will cause Islamic moral values to prevail on Earth. In the hadiths our Prophet (saas), too, has stated that the Mahdi will be a means whereby this great and holy event duly takes place in the End Times. As a requirement of Qur’anic moral values, and as reported by our Prophet (saas), the rule of Islamic moral values will be brought about with love. When Islamic moral values come to prevail, the world will attain peace and security, and all forms of disorder, conflict, anarchy and terror will come to an end. Distressed by the disorder and oppression of the End Times, people will be delighted with the justice, compassion, generosity, love and interest of the Mahdi, who will cause Islamic virtues to prevail on Earth.

The glad tidings of the inevitable appearance of the Mahdi in the End Times is revealed as follows in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas):

If there were only one day left for the world, that day would be lengthened until a man from among my descendants or from among the people of my household, was sent; . . . He will fill the earth with justice and fairness, just as it will have been filled with injustice and oppression. 1

According to the information in the hadiths, the Mahdi will appear in the End Times and cause Islamic moral values to prevail on Earth. With the coming of the Mahdi all the oppression and injustice in the world will come to an end, and the Earth will be filled with justice, peace, love and security. These holy events are reported in these terms in various hadiths:

A man from my family appears to fill Earth with justice, just as it has been filled with corruption. So whoever reaches that [time] ought to come to them, even if crawling on the ice/snow. 2

He [the Mahdi] will practice the religion just as in the time of Our Prophet… 3

However, as our Prophet (saas) also tells us, want and difficulties will increase in severity prior to the appearance of the Mahdi, there will be no peace or security on Earth and all humanity will experience enormous suffering because of a succession of disasters. Indeed, it is reported in the Qur’an that our Lord has tested people by way of various troubles before the period of envoys and prophets:

We have never sent a Prophet to any city without seizing its people with hardship and distress so that hopefully they would be humble. (Surat al-A‘raf, 94)

As revealed in the verse, troubles and difficulties before the coming of the Mahdi, a holy personage who will cause people all over the world to live by Islamic moral values, who will bring peace and justice to humanity and who will be a means whereby they experience the period known as the Golden Age, are a requirement of the law of Allah. Our Prophet (saas) has revealed in great detail what form these troubles will take.

Disorder and Strife in the End Times Will Place People in a Difficult Position

According to what our Prophet (saas) tells us in the hadiths, the period prior to the appearance of the Mahdi will be a difficult one of widespread strife and disorder, when people suffer pain and trouble, of much want and of pitiless wars. Some hadiths on this subject read as follows:

BEFORE THE APPEARANCE OF MAHDI, COMMERCE WILL BE TERMINATED, ROADS WILL BE CUT among nations, FITNAH WILL MULTIPLY.... 4

WHEN DISORDER REIGNS ON EARTH, FITNAH APPEAR, the elderly do not feel compassion for the young ones, the young ones do not respect the elderly, Allah will SEND SOMEONE (the Mahdi) who will eradicate enmity from them, conquer the fortresses of perversion, who will uphold the religion in the End Times, just as how I did in the past and who will fill the Earth with justice which was formerly full of cruelty. 5

The information contained in the hadiths shows that in the End Times there will be great bloodshed, widespread attacks, increased violence, massacres, wars and conflicts, justice replaced by injustice and oppression, greater hunger and poverty, mutual distrust and fraud, lying will begin being regarded as a legitimate form of behavior among a large section of society, and there will be terrible moral degeneration. Accordingly, people will be subjected to a succession of disasters and woes, and trouble and suffering will be unending. In one hadith we are told that:

QUITE DIPLORABLE AND MISERABLE SITUATIONS, AND PAINFUL VIEWS ARE SEEN. Fitnah appear in succession…Among them appear FITNAH, VIOLENCE, DESTRUCTIONS AND VIOLATIONS. When people think they are over, they persist to continue. These events reach to such severity that no house entered, no Muslim being hurt remains left. 6

Our Prophet (saas) has imparted the glad tidings that it is the Mahdi who will be a means whereby people emerge into the light out of this dark environment, who will show them solutions, and will bring about the peace and security they long for.

The Mahdi Will Eliminate the Despair into Which People Have Fallen
It is the fact that people have turned their backs on the moral values of the Qur’an and on the holy Sunnah of our Prophet (saas) that lies at the root of the great troubles they will be subjected to during the End Times. People will experience enormous suffering in the End Times since the love, affection, honesty, justice, tolerance, moderation, patience and love of peace required by religious moral values will have been replaced by selfishness, ruthlessness, aggression, injustice and self-interest propagated by atheistic ideologies. One hadith reports how people will have departed from religious virtues in the End Times:

With one of my descendants, the Mahdi, Allah REANIMATES THE SUNNAH when they weaken due to the disappearance of the Sunnah, appearance of bi’dat ( false judgment and practices not sanctioned by the Qur’an), and disappearance of the opportunities of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil. 7

As we are informed in the hadiths and in the works of Islamic scholars, the Mahdi will engage in a major intellectual struggle in order to overcome atheistic ideologies, to teach people about religious moral values and the essence of the faith, and to lead them in the direction of belief in Allah and moral virtue. Our Lord will make the Mahdi and his great intellectual struggle a means whereby the troubles of the End Times are eradicated. This attribute of the Mahdi is revealed in these terms:

THE PERSONAGE, the most auspicious of Muhammad’s ummah and YOUR GUARDIAN ELIMINATING YOUR DIFFICULTIES… He is the Mahdi.. 8

In another hadith, we are told that corruption will be brought to an end through the Mahdi, and that with this peace and security will take their place in the world:

Allah WILL RESOLVE BLIND FITNAH THROUGH HIM (the Mahdi) Everywhere will become secure... 9

According to the information contained in the hadiths, people suffering pain, difficulties and want will seek shelter behind the justice, compassion, love and generosity of the Mahdi. In one hadith it is reported that:

In the same way that bees gather round the queen, so people will gather round the Mahdi. He will fill the world, once filled with oppression, with justice instead.... 10

When the Mahdi causes Islamic moral values to prevail on Earth, want, hunger, suffering and troubles will come to an end, the flow of blood will cease, and people will find the true happiness, peace and security for which they have been searching for so many years. This climate of abundance and plenty, filled with love and peace, is described as follows in hadiths:

Once the Earth is full of cruelty and enmity, one of my line will emerge. He will fill the Earth with equity and justice, just as it was previously filled with oppression and tyranny. 11

He fills the Earth with justice and excellence. The Earth gives out its plants, the heavens pours its rain. My ummah attains unprecedented blessings. 12

At that time the heavens will hold not a single drop of rain and the Earth will attain abundance. 13

In his time, such justice prevails that the dead envies the alive. 14

The Mahdi Will Call People to Islamic Moral Values with Love and Compassion

The Mahdi is a personage with very superior virtues. The moral values of the Mahdi have been described in considerable detail and praised in many hadiths. One of the hadiths reported concerning the virtues of the Mahdi states that the moral values of this holy individual resemble those of our beloved Prophet (saas):

A descent of mine will appear whose MORALITY IS LIKE MY MORALITY. 15

With his moral values and faith, our Prophet (saas) was made superior to the worlds, and is a most worthy and superior personage who spoke of our Lord’s great blessings on him. Our Lord has given many examples of the superior moral values of our Prophet (saas) in the Qur’an. One of the regards in which he is a role model for all believers is the fact that he is full of love, consideration and compassion, and treats people kindly. The Qur’an tells us that:

It is a mercy from Allah that you were gentle with them. If you had been rough or hard of heart, they would have scattered from around you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them...(Surah Al ‘Imran, 159)

As can clearly be seen from the information in the hadiths, the Mahdi will approach people will love and compassion, just like our beloved Prophet (saas), will enable disputes to be resolved by peaceful means, and will patiently call people to faith and proper moral values. The Mahdi’s struggle against atheistic ideologies will be an intellectual one and will, as a blessing from our Lord, enjoy an intellectual victory over pagan ideologies using the most wise and rational methods. As we are told in the hadiths, this great intellectual struggle of the Mahdi’s will take place in such a calm, placid and orderly way that someone who is asleep will not even be awaken:

…the sleeping man will not be awakened and no blood will be shed. The world will return to the Age of Happiness. 16

The Mahdi will follow the way of the Prophet. He will not wake up a sleeping person or shed blood. No Sunnah will fail to be brought to life, and no bid’at (false judgment and practices not sanctioned by the Qur’an) will fail to be eliminated. 17

As the hadiths state, the Mahdi will cause Islamic moral values to prevail over the world by peaceful means. He will justly resolve tensions and disagreements in a manner that will please all parties, and will peacefully eliminate all problems. The Mahdi will call on people to abide by the compassion, patience, goodness and beauty commanded by Islamic moral values, and with his own virtues and behavior will be a role model to everyone in this regard, as in all others. This call of the Mahdi’s is revealed in these terms in one of the hadiths:

After performing the evening prayer, he (the Mahdi) will speak in the loudest voice: “O people! I remind you of Allah. I tell you what your place will be in the presence of Allah tomorrow, on the day of judgment. Allah has sent you much evidence and the prophets, He has revealed to you the Qur’an and commanded you to ascribe no partners to Allah but to maintain your obedience to Allah and His Prophet. Reanimate what is given life by the Qur’an, forbid what is forbidden and assist and support the Mahdi. Because the world is about to experience ill and to come to an end. I call on you to labor with His book, to eliminate the falsehood and to reanimate the Sunnah.” 18

All this information clearly goes to show that the path to be followed by the Mahdi will lead everyone to Islamic virtues with a global cultural movement.

Like Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) and the Prophet Sulayman (as), the Mahdi Will Rule through Peace

It is reported in the hadiths that the Mahdi will rule the world like the Prophet Sulayman (as) and Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as), who previously caused Islamic moral values to prevail over the Earth. One of these hadiths reads:

The Mahdi will rule Earth, just like Dhu'l-Qarnayn (as) and Prophet Sulayman (as). 19

In his famous work Letters, the great Islamic scholar Imam Rabbani also included hadiths reporting that like the Prophet Sulayman (as) and Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as), the Mahdi will make Islamic values prevail over the world. One of these hadiths states that: The Earth has four kings. Two of them are from believers, Dhu’l-Qarnayn and the Prophet Sulayman. The other two are from the nonbelievers Namrut and Buhtunnasr. The fifth king to rule the world will be from the people of the House (Ahl al-Bayt). In other words, Mahdi will be the ruler. 20

As reported in this hadith of our Prophet (saas), the two holy Muslim individuals who have to date made Islamic moral values rule the world are Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) and the Prophet Sulayman (as). The third Muslim who will rule the world, like these two prophets, is the Mahdi. The superior moral virtues seen in the Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) and the Prophet Sulayman (as) will also be seen in the Mahdi, who will cause Islamic moral values to prevail over the world.

It is revealed in the verses of the Qur’an that the Prophet Sulayman (as) and Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) were tolerant, forgiving and peace-loving. Some of the verses about the Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) read:

…until he reached the setting of the sun and found it setting in a muddy spring and found a people by it. We said, ‘Dhu’l-Qarnayn! You can either punish them or else you can treat them with gentleness. (Surat al-Kahf, 86)

(Dhu’l-Qarnayn said,) ‘But as for him who believes and acts rightly, he will receive the best of rewards and we will issue a command, making things easy for him.’(Surat al-Kahf, 88)

As stated in the verses, Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) adopted gentleness as a principle in the face of the society he encountered, and called it to the easy path. He treated both this society and, as revealed in verses, other communities he encountered subsequently, with justice and showed them a way out of their difficulties. He helped the community that sought his assistance with no expectation of any reward. Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) was described by the people around him as someone who prevented corruption and strife on Earth, and was a leader who brought people peace and well-being. There is no doubt that these things are the results of his living by the moral values commanded by our Lord in the finest possible manner.

As can be seen from the information in verses, the Prophet Sulayman (as) also established a most superior culture in the age in which he lived and maintained his rule though diplomacy, art and culture. Despite possessing very powerful, irresistible armies, he did not use military force. When the Mahdi appears he will also, like Dhu’l-Qarnayn (as) and the Prophet Sulayman (as), attach pride of place to cultural activities, employ diplomacy, attach great importance to art and aesthetics, and win the love of everyone through his justice and honesty. When Islamic moral values rule, there will be love, understanding and affection among people, rather than hatred, enmity and hostility. It is the Mahdi, the most beloved by people, he with whom they are most pleased, who will usher in this delightful period.

People Will Be Delighted with the Mahdi’s Moral Values and Justice

The period in which Islamic moral values will be brought to rule the world by means of the Mahdi is known as the Golden Age. As can be seen from the hadiths, this period will last more than half a century and will resemble the Age of Happiness. In describing this period, our Prophet (saas) reported features resembling those of Paradise, thus leading to it being given the name of the Golden Age.

Some of the main features of this age are an abundance of products and goods of all kinds, the provision security, safety and justice, peace and happiness, the use of all kinds of technological advances for people’s comfort, ease, joy, and nobody being left in a state of want, and anyone who asks being given much more than they request with nothing being measured out. The hadiths impart the glad tidings that the Earth will be filled with peace during this period. The Golden Age will see great brotherhood among peoples who had previously been involved in disputes, and conflict of all kind will be replaced by peace, friendship and love. Conflicts, wars, anarchy and disorder will come to an end. People will enjoy complete security, and all parts of the world will be safe.

People will be delighted by the love, friendship, security and peace of mind they enjoy in the Golden Age, and will feel a profound love for the Mahdi, the means whereby these delights come about, and will be totally happy with his justice and excellent moral values. This is how the hadiths impart the tidings that the Mahdi will be greatly loved by all:

Allah will fill ALL PEOPLE’S HEARTS WITH HIS (THE MAHDI’S) LOVE. 21
When the Mahdi appears, people will EMBRACE HIM WITH LOVE. 22

Some other hadiths describe how everyone will speak of the Mahdi’s excellent virtues and will constantly refer to his conversation. The love felt for the Mahdi is described in these terms in hadiths:

Mahdi is the best of people. The people that give their support and allegiance... At his front is Gabriel, at his middle is Michael and he is loved throughout creation. 23

They will drink his love and their talk is only about him. 24

Islamic Union Is No Obstacle to European Union

The age we are living in is the End Times, one of disorder, oppression, wars and disasters. However, as we can see from the hadiths, the End Times are also a period in which all these will be resolved, in which moral virtues will prevail on Earth and in which people will live together in peace. This period, in which an Islamic Union will be established, also raises the question of whether the Islamic Union will represent a hindrance to the European Union which is so frequently referred to these days. The fact is that this is a question stemming entirely from a misunderstanding of the moral values that represent the basis of the Islamic Union. The Islamic Union is based on love, solidarity, justice, peace and friendship. The aim behind the foundation of the Islamic Union is, by putting an end to disorder, conflict, injustice and ruthlessness, for everyone to live together in peace and well-being, for the basic rights and freedoms of all to be respected, and for all humanity to live together in peace with no discrimination on the basis of language, race or religion. The superior moral values that the Islamic Union will bring with it, the rights and freedoms, the climate of well-being, peace and security, are no obstacle to the European Union.

Conclusion:

The information we have looked at so far goes to show that the End Times is one of the most crucial periods in the history of the world, when very great events will take place. The poverty, conflicts, acts of violence and terror and moral degeneration going on in the world today reveal that the days when the Mahdi will appear and put an end to these using the very wisest and most peaceful means are approaching. By the will of Allah, when the Mahdi appears all humanity will attain a beauty, abundance and plenty, peace and security, the like of which have never been seen before. All these things are most valuable glad tidings at which true believers will feel deep joy and excitement. What Muslims need to do is to experience the joy of these tidings and to prepare themselves for this holy period with enthusiasm and excitement.
