Oppression to the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.)

Oppression to the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.)

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Woe to the enemies of my Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) and to those who disregard their rights; may my intercession not be for them and they would not see my Creator's Paradise.
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Hard is the Allah's wrath on those who torment me through tormenting my Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.).
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): I am disgusted of those who are offensive to my Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.).
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): There are six persons on whom, Allah, me and all those Prophets whose prayers are answered have
cursed: The one who adds something to the Qur'an, the one who considers Allah's decree as a lie, the one who wants to dominate by force and power to degrade someone who is honored by Allah; and the one who attempts to respect and honor someone whom Allah has degraded; the one who forsakes my sunnah, and the one who considers religiously unlawful for my Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.) as lawful and considers religiously unlawful as permissible.

Prohibition of Entering the Paradise for Those Who Oppress the Ahl al Bayt (A.S.)
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Allah has prohibited from entering into the Paradise those who oppress my Ahl al-Bayt, or fight with them, attack them, or curse them.
Imam Ali (A.S.): I swear by Allah that I shall prevent our enemies from approaching the pond of Kawthar of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) and will bring our friends close to it with these two small hands of mine.
Anas ibn Malik: I went to the Messenger of Allah's (S.A.W.) house. His Holiness said: "Kawthar" was given to me. I asked: What is Kawthar"? The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) replied: It is a river in the Paradise, the length of which is from east to west. Whoever drinks out of it shall never feel thirsty and whoever washes himself in it shall never be unclean. Anyone who breaks his pledge with me or kills a member of my Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) shall never succeed drinking out of it.

Chastisement for Those Who Oppress the Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.)
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): The Paradise has three grades and the Hell has three abysses. In the lowest abyss of the Hell dwells the one who an enmity of ours is in his heart and with the help of his friend's tongue acts against us; in the second abyss of Hell dwells the one who feels enmity toward us and speaks against as; in the third abyss of Hell dwells the one who feels enmity toward us in his own heart.
Imam al-Sajjad (A.S.) -concerning the virtue of pilgrimage to Karbala and visiting Imam al-Husayn's (A.S.) holy Shrine: Allah makes the revelation to the heavens, the earth, the mountains and the seas with all its creatures ..."I swear to my Glory and Majesty that I would chastise anyone who oppresses My appointed Messenger and his Ahl al-Bayt and breaks his promises to them, with a Punishment that no one else Would taste it."

The Prophet's (S.A.W.) Prophecy of the Oppression to Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.)
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Woe and grief for the oppressions done to Muhammad's (S.A.W.) Ahl al-Bayt by a pleasure-seeking and unlawful caliph.
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): Soon After me my Ummah will murder my Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) and will drive them out of their homes; verily the most revengeful tribes toward us are: Bani Umayyah; Bani Mughayrah and Bani Makhzum.
Imam al-Baqir (A.S.): When this verse was revealed: "(Remember) the day when we will summon every people with their leader (Imam)", the Muslims asked O' Messenger of Allah, Are you not the leader of all people? His Holiness (S.A.W.) replied: I am the Messenger of Allah for all men, but after me the Imams shall be appointed to the people from my Ahl al-Bayt. They shall be leaders of the people, but they shall also be denied by them, the leaders of disbelief and ignorance and their followers shall oppress them. Whoever loves the Imams and follows and confirms their authority will be with me and shall meet me (in Paradise] and be aware that whoever oppresses them and denies them is not my follower and- is not with me and I detest them.
Junada ibn Abi Umayya: When al-Hasan ibn 'Ali(A.S.) was ill, which eventually caused his death, I came to his house and saw a flat wash tub in which the Imam vomited blood because of the poison he was given by Mu'awiyah.
I asked him: Why do you not seek for a remedy O my master? His Holiness replied: How could I find a remedy for death?! I said: "Verily we belong to Allah and verily to Him shall we return". Then the Imam (A.S.) turned his face to me and said: I swear by Allah, the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) told" us that the leadership of the "Ummah" will be assigned to twelve Imams who are the offspring of Ali (A.S.) and Fatima (A.S.) of whom all shall either be murdered or poisoned. At this time I raised the tub and the Imam (A.S.) leaned back.
Imam Sadiq (A.S.) The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) looked at 'Ali (A.S.) al-Hasan (A.S.) and al-Husayn (A.S.) and then wept and said: You shall be oppressed victims after me.
Anas ibn Ma1ik: Ali ibn Abi Talib was ill and I went to visit him accompanied by the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.). Abu Bakr and Umar were sitting close to him (A.S.) -I moved so that the Holy Prophet (A.S.) could sit. One of them told the other: He surely will die. The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) said: He will only be killed, when his heart will be filled with rage and anger.
Imam Ali (A.S.): The Messenger of Allah(S.A.W.) took my hand and we were walking in one of Madinah's alleys, till we passed a garden. I said to the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.): What a beautiful garden! The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) replied: In the paradise a more beautiful, than this be yours. Them we passed another garden and I said again: O Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) how beautiful this garden is. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) replied a more beautiful than this will be yours in the Paradise. We walked and passed seven gardens and each time I repeated the same statement and the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) replied with the same answer.
When the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) reached an uncrowded place bugged me and suddenly burst into tears. I asked: O Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) why do you weep? He replied: For the hatred hidden in the hearts of people which they will reveal to you after me. I asked: O Messenger

of Allah (S.A.W.) will my faith remain intact?
He replied: Yes your faith will remain intact.
Anas ibn Malik says: The Angel of Rain asked Allah's permission to go to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.). The Angel was given the permission. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) ordered Umm Salama: "Stay outside so that nobody could come in". Anas says: Al-Husayn (A.S.) came in and wanted to enter the room, but Umm Salama prevented him. Husayn (A.S.) rushed inside the room and jumped on the Holy Prophet's back and neck. The Angel asked the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) do you love him. He replied: Yes. The Angel said: Know that your Ummah will kill him, and if you wish I will show you the place where he will be martyred. The Angel struck out with hand and brought a handful of red clay. Umm Salama took it and kept it in the corner of her kerchief. Thabit who is a transmitter of this hadith says: We heard that land was Karbala.
Umm Salama says: One day the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) was sitting in my room and said that no one should come inside. I waited outside. At this time al-Husayn (A.S.) entered the room. I heard that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) was sobbing bitterly. I looked inside and saw that al-Husayn (A.S.) was in the bosom of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) and he was caressing al-Husayn's (A.S.) forehead and shedding tears. I said I swear by Allah I did not notice his entering.
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) said: Gabriel was with us in the room and asked: Do you love him? I replied: Ay, of all in the world [I only love him]. Gabriel said: Know that your ummah will kill him in a land called Karbala. Then Gabriel took a small amount of that earth and showed it to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.). Later on when al-Husain (A.S.) was besieged and was going to be killed, he asked what this land is called. They replied: Karbala then he said Allah and his Messenger have told the truth. This is the land of "karb" [which means sorrow,] and Bala, [meaning calamity].
Abd Allah ibn Nojji quoting his father: When Ali (A.S.) was on his way to "Siffin" my father was Imam's retainer in that journey when we reached Nainawa he called: Wait Abu 'Abd Allah, wait at the Euphrates! Wait here. I asked: what has happened? He replied: One day I was at the Messenger of Allah's (S.A.W.) presence and saw that his eyes were full of tears. I said: O Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.)! Has someone bothered you? Why are your eyes tearful? He replied: No, a moment ago Gabriel left me. He told me that al-Husayn will be killed near the Euphrates. Gabriel had asked the Messenger of Allah: Do you wish to smell the earth of his martyrdom place? I said: yes then he took a handful of the earth and gave it to me that made me crying.
The Oppressions Done To the Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.)
Imam Ali (A.S.): Soon after Allah took the soul of His Messenger, a group of people turned their backs to him and walked on diverse and calamitous paths and relied on their false ideas; and made relationship with those who were not of the Holy prophet's family, and became separated from the Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.) to whom they were instructed to be close and moved the supporting stone of [religion and leadership] from its proper place. These people were the source of all kinds of falsehood, and the open gates to those who wished to walk on the wrong path and go astray.
Al-Ya'qubi in relating Fatima's (AS.) death: When Fatima (A.S.) was ill and was resting in her bed, the Messenger of Allah's(S.A.W.) wives and other women from Quraish went to visit her. They asked: how do you feel? She answered: I swear by Allah I am weary of your world and I am very happy to leave you and visit Allah and His Messenger while I have many complaints against you; as neither my right was not protected nor the vows were kept. The testaments regarding me were not heard and my sanctity was not safeguarded.
Imam al-Husayn (A.S.): When Fatima(A.S.) passed away, she was secretly buried by Amir al-Mu'minin (A.S.) who hid the whereabouts of the grave, His holiness then stood up and turned his face toward the Messenger of Allah's(S.A.W.) grave and said: My greetings and your daughter's greetings to you Messenger of Allah. She has come now to visit you and is away from me resting near your resting place. Allah wanted that she would join you soon O Messenger of Allah. I have lost my patience because of her departure. Your chosen daughter and the best of all women in the world. But in following your sunnah while in your departure is a condolence for my grief. I myself placed your body in the grave and your resting place; while you were in last breath you had placed your hand on my chest. Yes! The best consolation for me is to follow your way and remember what is written in Allah's Book: "Verily, we are Allah's, and verily to Him shall we return" (156:2).Verily what has been entrusted to me was returned and I lost Zahra'(A.S.) O Messenger of Allah! How this blue sky and this dark earth seem ugly to me. There is no end to my sorrows, and I spend my nights awake and there is no end to my sorrows and grief till I would join you and rest where you are. I do feel a heart rendering sorrow which make one restless. How soon we were separated from one another. I bring my complaints to Allah. Your daughter will tell you about how your "ummah" conspired with those who have oppressed her. Ask her all what has happened; because there were many burning sorrows that she felt but could not express them openly, but she would tell them all to you and Allah would judge about them. Allah is the Best of all judges.
How do I say farewell to you. The farewell of a man who is neither angry nor tired or weary. Because if I would depart from here, it would not be out of anguish and tiredness; and if I would stay, it would not be because I mistrust the promises Allah has given to the patient ones.
Abd al-Rahmin ibn Abi No'm: An Iraqi asked this question from ibn Umar: What the law concerning a garment which is stained by mosquito's blood? Ibn Umar Said: "Look at this man who is inquiring about the mosquito's blood, whereas the offspring of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) is being killed [by them]. I heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) saying: Al-Hasan(A.S.) and Husayn(A.S.) are my two fragrant flowers in this world.
Menhal ibn 'Amr: I went to 'Ali ibn al-Husayn(A.S.) and said: Greetings to you! May Allah's mercy be upon you. How are you? He replied: You say that you are our Shi'ite and still are not aware of what is happening to us days and nights? We are like the children of Jacob subjugated by the Pharaohs, our children are killed and our women are kept alive and the best individuals of the Ummah are cursed on the pulpits. And they are well paid for what they do: Those who are devoted to us are oppressed and cannot obtain their rights; the Quraish under the pretext that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) is from their tribe consider themselves superior to all the Arab tribes and claim the rights which belongs to us but they do not give us our least rights, that is the way our days and nights are passed.
Imam al-Baqir(A.S.). Whoever would not believe that we have been oppressed and our rights usurped, has contributed to the oppressions we have hitherto suffered.
Ibn Abi al-Hadid: It is narrated that Abu Jafar Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir(A.S.) said to one of his followers: O such and such a person! What oppressions and torments we suffered from the Quraysh; and what oppressions our Shias suffered from the people! The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) had said before his demise that we have superiority over people more than what they have over themselves; but the Quraysh conspired against us and diverted to affairs [Imamat and Khilafat] from their proper course, and took away what was our own right and proof; and with it argued against the Ansar; then Quraysh handed the "khilafat and leadership" to one another; till our right was restored back to us; but they changed their allegiance and raised the flag of war against us, and they continually entangled Amir Al-Mu'minin with hardship and agony till he was killed.
After him they swore allegiance to his son al-Hasan, but he too faced disloyalty and was left alone before his enemies, and the Iraqis rebelled against him and stabbed dagger at his sides and looted his camp and pulled off the anklets from his wives, and forced him to make peace with Mu'awiyah, and by doing this he saved himself and his family who were very few in number.
After that twelve thousand of Iraqis swore allegiance to Imam al-Husayn(A.S.); but they broke their allegiance to him too and rebelled against him and killed him while they were bound to him as a result of their allegiance. After that, we the Ahl al-Bayt are subjects to oppression, deprivation, humiliation and death. We live in fear and terror. Our lives and the lives of our followers are in danger, but the liars and those who deny our rights have attained good positions in the palaces of the rulers, the unjust judges, and the wicked agents are present in all cities. They always say false things about us and lie. What they have in mind is to make us detested by the people.
The worst things happened at the time of Mu'iwiyah after the demise of Imam al-Hasan(A.S.), because at that time many of our Shi'as were killed; or their hands and feet were severed. If someone's love and devotion towards us was disclosed, his possessions were looted or his house was demolished.
At the time of 'Ubaid Allah ibn Ziyad, the killer of al-Husayn (A.S.) the suffering and agony increased every moment. Then Hajjaj came and killed all who were devoted to Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.) with the slightest suspicion. He went so far that calling someone a heretic or a disbeliever was more acceptable than calling him the Shi'a of Ali (A.S.).
Hamza ibn Humran: I went to Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (A.S.) and he asked me: Where do you come from? I answered: from Kufa. On hearing this he burst into tears and wept so much that his beard was soaked in tears. I asked: O son of the Messenger of Allah, why do you cry so much? He answered: I recalled my uncle Zayd and what they did to him. That made me cry. I asked: What did you remember of him? He replied: I remembered the way he was killed when an arrow struck on his forehead and that his son Yahya came and embraced his body and said: I have good tidings for you O my dear father! You shall soon visit the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) and 'Ali (A.S.) and Fatima (A.S.), al-Hasan(A.S.) and al-Husain(A.S.).
Zayd said: Yes my son. Then Yahya brought a blacksmith to pull out the arrow from Zayd's forehead. He died then. They took his body near a river that was flowing in a garden and buried it in the river bed and let the water flow over it. One of the people that was present there had a Sindi slave at his disposal. The next day that slave went to Yusuf ibn 'Umar and showed him the place where Zayd was buried. Yusuf ibn 'Umar took out the corpse and hanged it near a garbage dump.
Four years the body was hung and then was burnt as ordered and the ashes were scattered in the wind. May Allah's wrath be on those who killed him and on those who left him alone and helpless. I bring my complaint to the most High Allah about those who oppressed the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) after the demise of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.). Allah is the best Friend and will help us.
Muhammad ibn al-Hasan quoting Muhammad ibn Ibrahim: One of al-Hasan's children was taken to Abu Jafar (Mansur Dawaniqi) [the Abbasid caliph] . He looked at Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Hasan and said: Are you Dibaj, the yellow? He replied: Yes. Mansur said I swear by Allah I shall kill you in such a way that I have not killed any of your family members. Then he ordered to make a gap in a pillar and buried him alive in the pillar.
Muhammad ibn Isma'il: I heard my grandfather Musa ibn 'Abd Allah saying that: We were imprisoned in a dungeon, [so dark] that we recognized the time of the daily prayers only by pieces of the Qur'anic chapters recited by 'Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn al-Hasan ibn al-Hasan.
Abu al-Salt Abd al Salam ibn Salih Harawi: I heard Imam al-Reza (AS.) saying: I swear to Allah that all of us will be killed and martyred. I asked: O Son of the Messenger of Allah! Who will kill you? His Holiness replied: The worst person at my time in the world. He will give me poison and then will bury me in a small room in a lonely land.
Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (A.S.): Bani Umayyah and Bani Abbas started to kill us for two reasons: The first reason was that they were aware that "Khilafat" was our right not theirs, so they were in fear that we might claim our right. The second reason was that they had understood through "Mutawatir" (continuous) traditions that the rule of the oppressors and tyrants shall be overthrown by our Qa'im and they had no doubt that they were tyrants, so they tried to kill the Ahl al-Bayt(A.S.) and wipe out their Generation, so that they could prevent the birth of "Qa'im" or kill him, but Allah will not allow His Light should be perfected even though the unbelievers may detest (it)" (9: 32).
