DON'T THE SHIA'S MAKE THE INFALLIBLE IMAM ALMAHDI(A.S.) SAD


Let us then resolve that we shall pray night and day for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (A.S.). We shall do everything which takes us nearer to the Imam (A.S.). And avoid all such acts which would take us away from our Master Imam Mahdi (AS.). So if we ponder upon this we would realise that there is no one who cares for us except this benevolent Imam. We should not dissatisfy him with our deeds. Because if our Imam (AS.) turns away from us (disregards us) then we shall have no shelter.

MASTER ! ASSUAGE OUR HEARTS


"0 Allah ! Assuage our hearts through Imam-e-Zamana (A.S.)" -
(Dua-e-lftetaah)

The religion that has come to perfect human ethics, to create the feelings of brotherhood, love and amity in the depth of hearts of the people and to eliminate enmity, injustice and inequality. Then why do people say, "Islam is the best religion but Muslims are the worst people."

Why are the Muslims a divided lot? Why do they harbor malice, hatred and enmity against each other? Why are their hearts disunited? Why do they detest each other? There is only one reply to all these questions. We are neither aware of the way our Imams lived nor of their instructions and guidance. Even if we have some knowledge, we are not ready to act upon it. The result obviously is discord, disharmony and disputes. . Let us examine our habits and customs in the light of the injunctions of our present Imarn, Hujjat ibnal Hasan al Askari (may Allah hasten his reappearance).

Let us see how steadfast we are upon his teachings. Are we straying far away away from him instead of becoming closer to him? Are we among those people of whom Imarn (A.S.) has said, "...Then nothing keeps us away from them but those reports about their actions which we do not expect from them." (Behaar, Vol. 53, p. 176)

Is he (a.s.) referring to us when he complains dejectedly,
"Had our Shias - may Allah bless them with His obedience - remained firm upon their covenant unitedly with resolute hearts, our meeting with them would not have been delayed."

Have we ever pondered upon the statement of Imam-e-Zamana (A.S.) that piety can help us get rid of our difficulties?

"(0 Mufeed!) From among our brother infaith, one, who is fearful of his Lord (pious) and gives to the rightful owner whatever he owes, shall remain safe from difficulties and calamities." Imam-e-Zamana (A.S.) had written this in a Tawqee to Shaykh Mufeed (R.A.)

Have we reflected upon the fact that Imam-e-Zamana (A.S.) has prohibited us from asking unnecessary & meaningless questions? "Do not ask those questions which are of no use to you." Patience helps solve the greatest of problems and difficulties. The attribute of patience is found in Allah. It is for this reason that Imam (a.s.) has instructed us to acquire this quality. "Allah the Almighty is Patient whereas you are unduly hasty"

Do we ever find time to serve the Shias of AhleBait (a.s.)? Do we ever strive to solve the problems of our friends, relatives and believers? Does the thought of satisfying their needs ever enter our minds? Most probably not !

But Hazrat Mahdi (A.S.) wrote to Abul Hasan Isfahaani, a Marja of his time, "Make yourself cheap(ly available), meet the people easily and fulfil their needs, we will help you. " Do you know that Imam-e-Zamana (A.S.) loves the pious and solves their difficulties? Hence, he exhorts, "Fear Allah, submit (yourselves) completely to us and leave all your work upon us (i.e.have faith in us), then it would be incumbent upon us to extract you from all types of calamities." (Kalematul Imam al-Mahdi, Vol. I, p.302) Hazrat Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) orders his Shias through Usman bin Saeed Amri and his son Mohammad bin Usman: "They must remain aloof from lust and greed."

Have we ever considered how much greed we harbor in ourselves? Are we aware that some people consider drinking to be a sign of cultural advancement? Whereas Imam e-Zamana (a.s.) says, "Drinking beer is haraam (prohibited)." (Kalematul Imam al-Mahdi, Vol. I, p.276) Respected readers! It is our duty to take account of ourselves, in the light of these traditions. Let's make sure we are not heading towards destruction. For, disobedience to the commands of Imam (a.s.) leads to annihilation. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) warns, "Do not go ahead of them (the Imams) lest you be destroyed" (As Sawaiq al-Muhriqa, p.89) In order to expound these points, we shall quote an injunction of Imam-e-Zamana (A.S.) and a supplication which he has taught us: "You must all perform deeds that bring you nearer to our love and remain aloof from those acts that will bring you closer to our dislike and anger."

Please ponder upon the following supplication :-

"0 Allah ! Give us "tawfeeq" (divine encouragement) for obedience, keeping away from sins, purity of intention, and recognition of prohibited acts. Honour us through guidance and steadfastness. Control our tongues to speak only that is necessary and wise. Fill our hearts with knowledge and recognition. Purify our stomachs from prohibited and doubtful foods. Restrain our hands from injustice and theft. Lower your gazes against sins and treachery. Refrain our ears from listening to vain things and back-biting. (0 Lord) Shower Your Grace .....upon the women to acquire modesty and chastity, upon the affluent to be humble and generous.upon the poor to be patient and contented... (For complete detail, refer to Mafaateehul Jenaan, p.116)

Following Imam Mahdi (A.S.)

Introduction
Humans have the right to freedom and salvation. Every one has this right regardless of time, location, race and the likes. Only humankind deserves this right, for he has a sacred element inborn with him as a creation of God.
The various religions are in search of a relation with the eminent truth and finding a way to salvation. However, both illusions and realities exist among them. The source of these illusions is being ignorant of the leader, especially Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), which without him getting to know the source of perfectness correctly is impossible.


I. Leadership-Imamah

a. The Necessity of Understanding the concept of Imamah
In order to know Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), which is under the cover of occultation, we must first know the concept of Imamah. The Imam is the person, which bears on his shoulders the educational, economic, political and theological leadership of the society. The most essential need of a nation that is under (ideological) bombardment from all directions is to have dialogues with each other. The assumption that every one is knowledgeable in this field is a fraud.

b. The United Islamic Nation
Without a broad understanding of leadership and supporting it, a united Islamic nation cannot be established. Of course, an Islamic community in which all the qualities are able to survive can be established on the principle bases that no one opposes: “There is no god but Allah, and Mohammad is His messenger.”

c. The Muslims Difference of Opinion about Imamah and Imam Mahdi
Some Muslims believe that the Holy Prophet (P.B.) hasn’t given a definite solution about guardianship and leadership and that he has left it up to his followers. This mentality has caused a great division between Muslims, which has in turn caused many bloody wars. Did the Holy Prophet really (P.B.) support war and division?
Although the traditions about the coming of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) are in such quantity in both Shiite and Sunni sources that it cannot be denied, many Muslims have denied it by demanding liberalism and to free the Muslims of the burdens of traditionalism.
Contrary to that notion, some like the Ahmadians believe that Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) has already come and Mahdiism has already materialized.

d. The Holy Prophet’s Conduct in Appointing Governors
By pointing out the corruptions in different nations in the trend of history and their mistakes, the Holy Prophet of Islam (P.B.) has warned his nation and has not left his followers without a true instructor, faultless guide and wise governor. Throughout the years that the revelation came down and the progress and victory of the Muslims continued, as soon as a new area or town was conquered the Holy Prophet would appoint a governor for that region, which would be responsible for the Muslims there. In important battles, the Holy Prophet (P.B.) would always appointed a surrogate for the Islamic army.
How is it possible to believe that the Holy Prophet (P.B.), who was so attentive to the issue of leadership and deputyship while alive, would leave his followers without an instructor, leader, and governor until the day-of-judgment?

f. The Most Important Characteristic of an Imam
The Holy Prophet (P.B.) has appointed a role model, leader and a true witness to the revelation for his followers. The Holy Quran has openly stated this truth for this is the book that has introduced the infallible leaders:
“…Verily, verily, God intendeth but to keep off from you uncleanness Oh Ye the People of the House, and purify you a thorough purification.” (Ahzab: 33)
This verse has named the true witnesses of the truth and has mentioned the reasons for appointing them. In addition, this verse hints that deviation from the right path roots in impurity. On the other hand the Ahlul-Bait (P.B.) have been purified of all kinds of impurity so they are pure and infallible. This is the most important quality of an Imam.
The signs of negative models stated in the Holy Quran are ambition toward power (Haman), avarice (Qarun and Abu-Lahab) and ambition toward sovereignty (Pharaoh and Abu-Jahl). A combination of Haman, Qaroon, and the Pharaoh will decline the greatest human qualities to the lowest. The Holy Quran has introduced Haman as an example of those with ambition to power; Qaroon as an example of those with avarice; Pharaoh as an example of the rebellious. The Holy Quran has introduced the Ahlul-Bait as the leaders and role modes for the educational, economical, political and theological affairs of the society.
After the passing of the Holy Prophet (P.B.), the Muslims turned to following the examples of Haman, Qaroon and the Pharaoh and left the leadership and model of the Ahlul-Bait, which was the most dangerous and deadly event that took place.


II. The Signs of Reappearance & Imam Mahdi’s (may God hasten his reappearance) Path
With respect to what the Holy Prophet has said about the circumstances of the world at the time of the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), we know that around the time of his (may God hasten his reappearance) reappearance there will be disputes among Muslims and the world will be filled with oppression.
We know from the traditions that, near the end of time, Gog and Magog will be the source of all hypocrisy and mischief; “Sofyani,” with his most inferior animalistic characters, will lead humanity toward animality; and “Dajjal” will carry out the harshest violence and oppressions in the world.
According to the Holy Prophet (P.B.) Imam Mahid (may God hasten his reappearance) will unite the Muslims and fill the land with justice. His Eminence the Holy Prophet (P.B.) has even guided the believers about following Imam Mahdi’s path (may God hasten his reappearance) at the time of his great occultation.

O Allah , send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto Mohammad, the leader, the greatest master, Lord of the prophets, and the last of the prophets, (Mohammad) the proof, reason, and demonstration of God the Creator, Nurturer, and the Lord of the universe.

(Mohammad) who has been chosen in an alliance, and in the world of spirits, the one who is clean from any bad deed, away from any mistake, he is the hope for freedom and righteousness, we hope that he accept to be our clout, and Allah bestowed Mohammad the path and the way to Allah.

O Allah, glorify his foundation, strengthen his teachings, make his reasons, proofs, and demonstration victorious above all, raise him high, strengthen him, and give him highest positions, illuminate his light the highest illuminations, make his face full of light, grant him; knowledge, virtue, excellence, superiority, attainment, highest position, tools, and make his position so high that everyone envy him from the first to the last of human beings.

And; send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto the king of the believers, the heir to the prophets, guide and leader of the worshippers of Allah, the greatest master of the executors and guardians, (Ali) the proof, reason, and demonstration of God the Creator, Nurturer, and the Lord of the universe.

And; send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto the pure Fatimeh, the greatest lady of all the ladies of the world, daughter to Mohammad prophet of Allah, Wife to Ali the true Imam, leader, and king of believers, and mother of the pure Imams and leaders after Ali.

And; send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto Hassan son of Ali, Imam and leader of the believers, the heir to the prophets, and the proof, reason, and demonstration of God the Creator, Nurturer, and the Lord of the universe.

His family who are the leaders and guidance to everyone, his family who are truthful and knowledgeable, the obedient to you, the freedom fighters, who are free, foundation of Your way to You, pillars to Your path , the translators of Your message, Your proof and demonstration to all of Your creation, kings on Your Earth , the ones whom You have chosen, and gave them high place over your believers, You picked them up happily for Your way to You, You gave them the understanding of Your deeds, raised them high with Your Grace, cover them with your Mercy, helped them grow with Your blessings and Grace, feed them with Your Knowledge, clothed them with Your Light, gave them high places in Your universe, surrounded them with Your angels, and gave them glory with your prophet, peace and tranquility be upon him.

O Allah , send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto him and them, a greeting, salutation, grace, and blessing that is very high in number, it is continuous and is going on always, no one has any power over it except You, only Your knowledge is able to understand it, and no one but You can enumerate it.

O Allah , and send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto your trusted appointee, the one who brings your religion from death to life, standing up and waiting per Your order, the only way toward You, he shows the way to You, Your proof, reason, and demonstration to all of Your creation, King on Earth, and witnesses the ones who worship You.

O Allah , Make sure his victory is definite, increase his life, and make Earth beautiful and nicely designed by his long stay on Earth.

O Allah , save him from the trouble of jealous people, keep him safe under your protection from the evil of the evil doers and deceivers, push away from him the will of unjust people, and free him from the hands of oppressors.

O Allah , award him; for himself and his family, his followers and servants, his special pupil and general public, his enemies, and everyone in the whole wide world; whatever that makes his eyes happy and full of light, whatever makes his heart full of happiness, and give him whatever his heart desires in this world and the next world after death. I testify, and I am a witness that you are able to do everything and you are omnipotent.

O Allah, renew with him everything that has been taken away from your path to you, give life with him to whatever which has been disputed and changed in your book, clear and reveal with him whatever which has been changed from your orders, until he changes the path to you with his hands to a new, clean, original, and real path, the kind of path that there will be; no doubt , no question, nothing unclear, no wrong, no transposition of letters, and no corruption in it.

O Allah, with his light illuminate any darkness, with his strength and stability destroy any corruption, destroy any injustice and deviation with his glory and power, break down with him any unjust and oppressor, turn off with his sword any fire, kill and destroy with his justice the pain and agony of any unjust oppressor, give rise and power to his orders over any and all orders, and ruin and desolate all the kings and kingdoms under his rule and power.

O Allah, abject, afflict, and make miserable the one who wants to harm him, destroy and annihilate anyone who is his enemy, remove the deceitfulness of the deceivers from him, annihilate and kill anyone who is not his believer and follower, take his orders lightly, try to turn off the light of his being, or to make everyone forget about him and his name.

O Allah , send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto Mohammadene almostafa, Aliyene almortaza, Fatimehta Azzahra, Hassan Alreza, Hussein almosaffa, all the prophets, teachers, and the people who were guidance and light in the darkness of the path, the scholars of direction of the path, the true worshippers, the virtuousness, the rope of the strength, the steady chain of power, and the correct and straight path.

And, send Your greetings, salutations, grace, and blessing onto guardian and your friend, other guardians and friends of yours, the imams and leaders and their children, add and increase their lives, increase and extend their time, give them whatever their hearts desire from whatever they want in their path, their way to you, in this world and the other world. It is testified and approved that you are able to do everything and you are omnipotent.

Imam Mahdi’s Universal Revolution

The followers of all religions of the world believe that one day the universe will be filled with corruption and crises and this era will itself be the sign of the coming of the great universal savior. The Muslims believe he will be from the tribe of Bani Hashim and a son of the Holy Prophet of Islam (P.B.) and that his name is “Mahdi.” However, it must be known that according to Islam, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) is not for Muslims alone. His rise will be not be limited to a certain tribe or nation. He will come to fight all discriminations – racial, religious, ethnic, etc. He is the Mahdi (guide) of the entire universe and the restorer of the religion of Ibrahim (P.B.), Moses (P.B.) and Jesus (P.B.).
The question may arouse is that : why none of the prophets through history had the chance to rule over all the world but a person from descendant of a prophet will achieve such a success? We must say, as an answer, that human communities have gradually developed throughout history. They have grown from the level of the family to small tribes and from there to great universal civilizations. It is based on a development that the mission of the divine prophets has become more and more vast. There are two reasons why the universal government has not and cannot materialize before the coming of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance): the human civilizations not being at the right level and the absence of sufficient knowledge and technology. Therefore, two conditions must be met before this promise can be fulfilled. Firstly, the universe must be connected in terms of communications in a way that it becomes like a global village. Secondly, the people of the world must reach a potential moral level to be able to bear the load of divine laws.
With respect to the era of the Internet and the development of globalization, the first condition has to some extent materialized. About the second condition, however, I must say that mankind is still not ready to bear the great and precious ornament of God.
At this point the question comes to mind that when are the people going to be morally ready for the acceptance of God’s representative, since the world falls into more and more corruption as time passes. The answer is that mankind at this point is experiencing the results of materialistic and manmade government systems. As humanity eventually looses hope in secular government systems, the crises caused by modern technologies along with the absence of spirituality, the mounting of moral and ethical perversions and problems in the ecosystem will cause people to believe that manmade codes of ethics cannot help achieve prosperity. Then, most people are tired of human plans and the human community, which consists mostly of the oppressed, wishes for justice and truth, but since they have lost hope from the earth, they will be looking in the heavens. When humanity reaches this situation, the conditions are met for the reappearance of the great universal savior, the Promised Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance). In other words, he will come at a time when even the evil is tired of committing evil.
Of course, the coming of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) will not in itself cause change in that situation. He will rise with 313 of his companions, plan an armed revolt, destroy the oppressors, and for the first time in history, the entire globe will be under the flag of Islam and the ground will be prepared for the flourishing of all aspects of human civilizations. According to the traditions, the level of people’s knowledge at that time compared to that of our time, is like the level of knowledge of the people of the stone age compared to our time. People will be able to easily travel between planets. The people of that time will be kind, warm, passionate and ethical in their behavior and there will be peace and security everywhere.
In his book The Power of Self-Conscience Joseph Marne, an American psychologist, says man has not yet used the potential abilities located on the right side of the brain. In his view, the use of this section of the brain by the public is possible only by reaching a certain level of justice and truthfulness. Therefore, bases on God’s general rule that mater is under the control of the soul, we know that until man does not reach its spiritual perfection, he will not be able to achieve perfectness in his material life.

Suara Dari Langit Menyokong Imam Mahdi


Kata tabiin RH,

“Ketika al-Mahdi dan as-Sufyani bertempur dalam medan peperangan, akan kedengaran suara dari langit, “Ketahuilah, bahawa wali-wali Allah adalah kawan-kawan al-Mahdi.”

Ungkapan ini menyatakan bahawa Imam Mahdi itu selain dibantu oleh pasukan dari Timur, juga mendapat bantuan daripada para malaikat dan wali-wali Allah. Maksudnya, Imam Mahdi sentiasa dibantu oleh malaikat, sama ada yang dapat dilihat atau tidak dapat dilihat oleh manusia, sama ada yang berada di atas muka bumi ini atau yang berada di atas langit sana. Ketua malaikat yang membantu Imam Mahdi adalah malaikat Jibril dan Mikail AS. Malaikat-malaikat lain yang membantu Imam Mahdi berjumlah empat ribu. Sebahagiannya dapat dilihat oleh manusia biasa, dalam bentuk bayangan atau bentuk manusia biasa. Ada yang hanya dapat didengar suaranya sahaja dan ada pula yang memukul setiap orang yang tidak mahu mengikut perintah Imam Mahdi.

Adapun para wali itu adalah golongan yang akan muncul semula ke dunia ini setelah sekian lama ghaib dari khalayak manusia biasa. Sebab itu tidak hairanlah kalau ada orang Islam sendiri pada hari ini yang berpendapat bahawa para wali sudah tiada lagi di atas dunia ini. Ini dikeranakan mereka tidak pernah melihat sesiapa pun di kalangan mereka seorang yang mencapai taraf wali, malah semuanya sama sahaja dengan mereka. Sebab lain hal ini berlaku ialah kerana golongan muqarrabin seperti para wali sudah tidak lagi dihormati oleh orang ramai kerana mereka telah terlalu dipengaruhi oleh sistem Yahudi dan Nasrani yang menekankan tidak perlunya kita menghormati sesiapa pun, temasuk pemimpin kita sendiri, para ulama, para guru, ibu bapa, para wali dan sebagainya. Semua mereka ini ada salah dan silap, kata mereka. Oleh itu, sepanjang hidup mereka, mereka tidak pernah bertemu bayang pun dengan mana-mana wali dan mereka juga tidak pernah meminta agar dapat dipertemukan dengan mana-mana wali, walaupun hanya sekali sahaja sepanjang hayat mereka.

Kerana itu, apabila Imam Mahdi sedang berperang melawan As-Sufyani dan angkatan tenteranya yang canggih itu sedangkan kelengkapan pasukan Imam Mahdi itu amatlah minimum sehingga tidak kelihatan seperti sebuah angkatan perang. Mereka sebenarnya lebih kelihatan seperti sebuah kumpulan dakwah daripada sebuah pasukan perang. Namun mereka tetap tidak menolak apabila terpaksa menghadapi pasukan As-Sufyani yang lengkap dari segala segi itu. Dan ternyata semasa perang baru meletus, para wali yang selama ini berada di mana-mana penjuru dunia akan segera mendatangi Imam Mahdi lalu menggabungkan diri ke dalam pasukan itu.

Bagaimana mereka boleh tahu bahawa Imam Mahdi memerlukan bantuan mereka? Hal ini sebenarnya amat mudah bagi Allah untuk melakukannya. Sebenarnya para wali itu ada dibekalkan oleh Allah dengan suatu rasa hati yang kuat untuk melakukan sesuatu apabila keadaan memerlukan mereka. Tanpa perlu disuruh-suruh oleh sesiapa atau tanpa diberitahu oleh sesiapa pun, gerak hati mereka kuat mahukan mereka pergi ke sesuatu tempat dengan kadar yang cukup pantas. Ada yang datang dengan cara terbang di udara, ada yang datang menaiki tikar terbang mereka, ada yang datang menaiki pelepah pinang yang berjalan di atas air, ada yang berjalan kaki di atas air seperti orang berjalan di atas tanah sahaja, ada yang berjalan beberapa langkah sudahpun sampai ke tempat yang hendak dituju, ada yang tahu-tahu sahaja sudah pun berada di sesuatu tempat, ada yang datang dengan dibawa oleh malaikat dan ada yang datang dengan dibawa oleh jin-jin khadamnya.

Lagipun apabila Imam Mahdi sudah menjadi pemimpin, maka wajiblah para wali ini membantu pemimpin mereka, terutama semasa memerangi musuh-musuh Allah. Bukan wali namanya kalau tidak turun membantu pemimpin mereka memerangi musuh. Dan dengan bantuan para wali Allah inilah Imam Mahdi dan pasukannya itu berjaya mengalahkan pasukan As-Sufyani. Ternyata bahawa kelengkapan perang yang cukup canggih itu tidak mampu mengalahkan kekuatan rohani tentera Imam Mahdi dan keramat para wali yang berada di kalangan mereka itu. Maka dengan mudah sahaja pasukan tentera As-Sufyani ini dapat dikalahkan oleh mereka menyebabkan pasukan As-Sufyani itu terpaksa berundur dan menanggung malu yang amat sangat.

Maksud lainnya ialah apabila orang ramai heboh memperkatakan tentang diri Imam Mahdi dan disebut secara terbuka pula, sama ada dalam bentuk pro atau kontra, maka itulah tandanya bahawa Imam Mahdi itu sudah tidak lama lagi akan keluar dan yang keluar kali ini benar-benar Imam Mahdi, bukan lagi sekadar dakwaan-dakwaan kosong.

Keserupaan Imam Mahdi A.S. Dengan Nabi Adam A.S.


Allah SWT menjadikan nabi Adam as sebagai khalifah di seluruh muka bumi, sedang Imam Mahdi as dijadikannya sebagai pewaris bumi, Allah SWT berfirman:

اني جاعل في الارض خليفه

"sesungguhnya aku menjadikan khalifah di atas muka bumi.” [1]

Dalam ayat yang lain Allah SWT juga menjadikan hambanya yang saleh sebagai pewaris bumi / dunia . Abu Abdillah Shadiq as saat menafsirkan ayat:

وعد الله الذين امنوا منكم و عملو الصالحت ليستخلفنهم في الارض [2]

Maksud dari minkum kalian yang dikehendaki oleh Allah adalah Mahdi as dan para pengikutnya, di mana saat dia muncul di Mekah dia mengusap wajahnya seraya berkata:"segala puji bagi Allah yang telah menepati janji N ya terhadap kita, dan menjadikan kita sebagai pewaris bumi.." [3]

Dan dalam Hadis Mufadhal disebutkan: beliau akan muncul di mana awan selalu memanyungi kepala beliau , dan di atas sebuah podium / mimbar beliau akan menyeru demikian:"akulah Mahdi khalifah tuhan, ikuti dan taatlah!.

Tangisan Adam as
Diriwayatkan dari R asulullah saw:" bahwa Adam as, saking banyaknya air mata yang ditumpahkan saat di keluar kan oleh Allah dari Syurga, air mata tersebut membentuk sebuah selokan air" [4].

Dari Imam Shadiq as diriwayatkan, tatkala ayat" Allah telah mengajari Adam segala nama-nama [5], bersabda:"segala yang diajarkan oleh Allah juga diajarkan kepada Imam Mahdi as, bahkan beliau (Mahdi as) mendapatkan tambahan yang tidak didapati oleh Adam as. Adam as mengetahui 25 huruf dari nama-nama agung Allah – seperti yang telah tercatat dalam beberapa hadis – dan nabi Muhammad saw mengetahui 72 huruf darinya, dan segala hal yang diberikan oleh Allah kepada nabi juga diterima dan diberikan kepada para pengganti beliau as, sampai akhirnya jatuh ke tangan Imam Mahdi as.

Dan dalam hadis yang diriwayatkan oleh Tsiqatul Islam Kulaini, dari Imam Shadiq as, disebutkan:"nama-nama yang diberitahukan Allah kepada Adam sampai sekarang masih ada, dan tiada seseorang yang mengetahuinya, kecuali hal itu adalah warisan dari orang sebelumnya, dan dunia tidak akan eksis tanpa seorang alim" [6].

Adam as, telah menghidupkan bumi dengan ibadah setelah para jin telah mematikannya dengan kekufuran dan kemaksiatan, Qaim as juga akan menghidupkan kembali dunia dengan agama tuhan, ibadah, dan keadilan, setelah dimatikan oleh kemaksiatan dan kekufuran penduduk dunia.

Di dalam kitab Biharul anwar dalam sebuah riwayat yang dinukil dari Imam Baqir as disebutkan, bahwa ayat yang berbunyi: يحي الارض بعد موتها " Allah SWT akan menghidupkan dunia setelah mati" [7] maksud dari ayat ini adalah Allah akan kembali menghidupkan dunia yang telah mati melalui Qaim as, sedang kematian ini dikarenakan oleh kekufuran penghuninya, dan pada hakikatnya seseorang yang kafir adalah sebuah mayat hidup" [8].

Dalam kitab Wasailu Syi'ah tentang tafsiran dari ayat di atas disebutkan bahwa Abu Ibrahim Musa bin Ja'far as bersabda:" dunia tidak akan dihidupkan degan derasnya siraman air hujan, akan tetapi Allah SWT akan mengutus pribadi-pribadi penegak keadilan, dunia akan hidup dengan tegaknya keadilan, dan sesungguhnya jika satu batasan atau hukum dijalankan secara sebenar-benarnya, pastilah lebih bermanfaat dari pada guyuran air hujan selama 40 hari". [9]

Dalam kitab yang sama, juga telah diriwayatkan dari Rasul saw yang bersabda:" kehidupan sesaat dengan dipimpin oleh seorang Imam yang adil, itu lebih baik dari pada 70 tahun tanpanya , dan jika satu batasan atau hukum dijalankan secara sejujurnya, pastilah lebih bermanfaat dari pada guyuran air hujan selama 40 hari ". [10]

Dengan ini semua , bagaimana mungkin kita tidak dapat mencari titik kesamaan antara Imam Mahdi as dengan nabiullah Adam as ? , di samping itu kita mengetahui bahwa Adam as tercipta berkat wujud suci beliau as.

ان الذي خلق المكارم حازها في صلب آدم للامام القائم

Sesungguhnya segala keluhuran budi pekerti yang tertuang / tersurat dalam tulang rusuk ( sulb ) Adam adalah untuk Qaim as semata.

A FEW QUESTIONS TO VALI-E-ASR (A.T.F.S.)



Admittedly the title seems to suggest that the person (who has posed the questions to Imam a.s.) actually had the distinction of meeting Imam-e-Zaman (a.s.). Hence we would like to clarify at the outset that we have not actually met Imam-e-Zaman (a.s.). However, it is said that letters and messages are "half a meeting". Because, through letters a person 'converses' with the addressee. Thus the style of writing a letter is very different from that of writing an essay or a book .
On the commands of Allah, Hazrat Vali-e-Asr is in occultation right from the commencement of his Imamat. Hence as opposed to his forefathers (a.s.), Imam's meetings with his Shias have been few and far between. By and large, the problems of the people have been presented before his esteemed self in the form of letters and "Areeza" ("Areeza" is a letter of requests written by the Shias to the Imam of their time). And Imam (a.s.) too has reciprocated in a similar manner. The letters of Imam-e-Zaman (a.s.) are terminologically called as "Tawqee". These Tawqees have been assimilated in several books. Hazrat Ayatullah Syed Hasan Shirazi (may Allah purify his soul) has compiled these letters in a book by the name of "Kalemat-ul-Imam al-Mahdi". This single book contains all the letters of Imam (a.s.) which are found in different books. Originally the book was written in Arabic. Dr. Syed Hasan Sabzawari has translated this book into Persian by the same name. The answers to the questions mentioned below, have been given by Imam (a.s.) himself. These replies have been compiled from various letters that were sent to him (a.s.) in the course of his Ghaibat. To that extent the letters of Imam (a.s.) constitute "half a meeting" with him, and the same is being presented in your service. We pray to Allah that this endeavour is accepted by our pure Imam (a.s.) We look forward to that day when we can present to you an interview conducted by personally meeting Imam (a.s.). Inshallah.

Q.1. What is the reason for the Shias being involved in so many calamities and afflictions?
Ans : One of the reasons is that the Shias are perpetrating those actions which the people of the past avoided. These Shias have forgotten the covenant of Allah and have violated it. [pg. 19]
"And had our guardianship and protection not been there, then calamities would have surrounded you from all sides and destroyed you." [pg. 19]
(This connotes that Imam (a.s.) nullifies most of the calamities with his existence. Else the plight of the Shias would have been most pitiable.)

Q.2. In these last days, what is the best mode of keeping one's self safe from evils and corruption?
Ans : Piety and abstinence. I pledge for the salvation of the one who does not desire any rank or position in any acts of evil and corruption, (pg. 190). The believer who possesses the fear of Allah and is prompt in returning the people their dues, will be secure from the evils of the time. And the one who acts miserly in disseminating the bounties of Allah to the people, will be from among the losers on the Day of Judgement. [pg. 198-200]

Q.3. What are our responsibilities in your occultation?
Ans : Perform those actions which bring you closer to our love and affection and refrain from all those actions that become the cause of our displeasure and dissatisfaction.

Q.4. How is it possible to meet you?
Ans : If our Shias (may Allah grant them the taufeeq of obedience) had been united in fulfilling the pledge, then certainly there would have been no delay in our meeting and they would have been graced with this opportunity several times. However, their actions are most unbecoming of Shias, and have kept them away from us. [pg. 200]

Q.5. How can we disgrace and humiliate Shaitan?
Ans : Reciting namaz on the dot of time at its very outset (Awwal-e-Waqt) is a cause of disgrace for Shaitan.

Q.6. Can a person utilize for his personal use a thing which has been endowed (Waqf) for you?
Ans : If the thing has been handed over to us then the person has no right over it - whether he needs that thing or not.

Q.7. What do you have to say about those people who use your things for their own personal benefits?
Ans : To use someone's belongings without his permission is prohibited. Hence the one who considers our money as permissible and usurps, has actually filling his stomach with fire and will surely be thrown in Hell.

Q.8. Can we recite namaz before a drawing or fire?
Ans : If the person is not from the children of idol worshippers or fire worshippers then he can recite namaz.

Q.9. Which chapter (surah) is recommended for recitation in namaz?
Ans : One who does not recite the chapter of Qadr (surahe "Inna anzalna") in his namaz then his namaz is not accepted. And the one who does not recite the chapter of Tauheed (surahe Qulho wallah) in his namaz, then his namaz is not pure.

Q.10. But traditions also speak about the rewards of reciting other surahs. For instance, it has been reported from traditions that the one who recites surahe "Homazah" will get the reward equal to this world?
Ans : There can be no disputing that he will get the reward which is mentioned in the traditions (for reciting surahe "Homazah"). But if a person forsakes any surah and recites surahe Qadr and surahe Tauheed, then not only will he get the reward of reciting these two surahs but will also get the reward of the surah which he has left (in order to recite these two surahs). Of course he can recite any other surah that he wishes, but then he will have abandoned something that carries a lot of reward.

Q.11. Can we eat and drink or do business with a person who earns through illegal means?
Ans : If the person has some other source of livelihood also, then it is not prohibited to eat and drink or do business with him. But if he has no other source of livelihood save his illegal income, then it is prohibited to interact with such a person. [Pg. 226]

Q.12. How can a person focus his attention towards Allah before starting his namaz?
Ans : It is recommended (mustahab) to recite the following in order to concentrate during namaz


Then he should say "Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem" and start his prayers. [Pg. 230]

Q.13. What is the order regarding the performance of "Sajdah-e-Shukr" after completing a wajib namaz?
Ans : The "Sajdah-e-Shukr" is among the highly recommended acts and is very much emphasised. Just as an obligatory (wajib) act is superior to a recommended (mustahhab) act, in much the same way, the "Sajdah-e-Shukr" which is performed after a obligatory namaz is superior to the one which is performed after a recommended namaz.

Q.14. Will the believers give birth to children in Paradise?
Ans : In paradise, neither will the women become pregnant nor will they have their menstrual cycles. In fact only those things will be available that will be a source of comfort for the eyes and the heart. [pg. 240]

Q.15. Can we keep Khak-e-Shifa (soil of Karbala) in the grave?
Ans : Yes it can be kept in the grave. And by the command of Allah, the threads
of the shroud get mixed with the soil. [pg. 244]

Q.16. Can a rosary (Tasbeeh) be made of Khak-e-Shifa?
Ans : There is no adornment for a Tasbeeh more excellent than Khak-e-Shifa. Among the virtues of a tasbeeh made of Khak-e-Shifa is that often a person is lost in his thoughts and just turns the beads of the tasbeeh in his hands, yet he will get the complete reward of reciting that tasbeeh. Q.17. Can we prostrate on Khak-e-Shifa?
Ans : It is permitted to prostrate on Khak-e-Shifa. In fact, it is a source of distinction.

Q.18. Can we prostrate on the graves of Imams(a.s.)?
Ans : You should not prostrate on the graves. However, you can touch your face to the grave. And there is also no harm in performing namaz in front of the grave.

Q.19. What do you have to say about those people who exaggerate the position of Able Bait(a.s.) and ascribe them with Divinity (Godhood)?
Ans : I and all my ancestors, right from Adam (a.s.) till Mohammad Mustafa (s.a.w.s) are the servants of Allah. Actually, we are aggrieved by those Shias who are ignorant and whose faith is not even equal to the wing of a mosquito. We detach ourselves from all those people who associate us with Allah, [pg. 264-266]

Q.20. Is it proper to search for you?
Ans: The one who struggles and strives too much for searching me will (in fact) direct the enemies towards me. And the one who guides the enemies towards me has endangered my life. And the one who puts my life in danger is a polytheist.

Q.21. What do you have to say about people like Shalmagani, Sharaee, Nomairee and Abu Khatab who had falsely claimed the status of being your special deputies?
Ans : We announce our disapproval of them and we distance ourselves from such people and also from their followers. We also send our curse on them.

Ans : Before our reappearance, the hearts of the people will become hard and the world will be full of injustice and inequality. [pg. 284]

Q.24. Will those Sayyeds (descendants of the Prophet s.a.w.s. who deny your Imamat get salvation?
Ans : Allah does not have any exclusive relation with anyone (i.e. no one is special in front of Allah). If someone denies our Imamat then he is not from us. His example is like the example of Hazrat Nuh (a.s.)'s son. [pg. 286]

Q.25. Is the time of your reappearance decided? And does anyone have information about it?
Ans : (The time of my) reappearance is in the hands of Allah. And anyone who claims otherwise is a liar. [pg. 288]

Q.26. As you do not have a special representative in the major occultation, then who should we resort to for redressal of our religious problems?
Ans : You must refer (your questions) to the narrators of our traditions. We have appointed them as our proof (Hujj at) upon you. [Pg. 288]

Q.27. What is the reason for your occultation?
Ans : Allah mentions in the Quran
"Do not ask those things about which if your are told, you will not like it". (Surah Maidah : 101)

Ans : The people can derive benefit from me in my occultation just as they derive benefit from the sun when it is concealed behind the clouds. [Pg. 290]

Q.31. What are the characteristics and the status of Allah's guides?
Ans : Allah has protected them from all kinds of sins and purified them from all kinds of defects and has made them clean from all sorts of vices. He has appointed them as the treasurers of His knowledge and the custodians of His wisdom. He has made them the focal point of His secrets and has strengthened them with proofs. If all this had not been there then every person would have claimed (this position) and it would not have been possible to discern truth from falsehood. And knowledge would not be distinct from ignorance.

Q.32. What is the reason for the sending of Prophets (a.s.) and Imams (a.s.)?
Ans : Allah has sent the Prophets (a.s.) and Imams (a.s.) so that they should command the people towards His obedience and refrain them from rebelliousness, and inform the people about Allah and about the tenets of His religion. [Pg. 294]

Q.33. How should we test and disgrace those people who falsely claim the status of Imamat?
Ans : Ask them about the Quran and the practical tenets (Ahkaam). Inquire from them about the laws governing namaz. You yourself will be able to gauge their authenticity.

Ans : A person should pray for a son till the fourth month of pregnancy.

Ans : Have you not read the saying of Allah in which He says,
"And We made between them and the towns which We hadblessed, other towns which can be easily seen ..."

I swear by Allah, we are those towns, which Allah has blessed, and you are the towns that are apparent.

Ans : The one who desires guidance gets it from Allah. The one who endeavours for it, is bestowed with it.

Indeed, we await that day when we can directly converse with Imam-e-Asr (a.t.f.s.), illuminate our eyes and souls by his luminous light.

SEEKING MEDIATION OF IMAM MAHDI.


To seek a mediator implies to gain proximity to an individual in order to achieve one's objective through the mediator's recommendation and arbitration. Arabic litterateurs define mediation (tawassul) as Translation, 'When he sought proximity with him through his actions, he aspired to gain his mediation.' (Lisanul Arab vol. 11, page 724).

Mediation in the light of Quran and traditions: Allah declares in the Quran ' 0 you who believe! Be (careful of your duty to) Allah and seek nearness to Him and strive hard in His way that you may succeed.' (Maidah : 35)


Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) in exposition of this ayat narrates 'Acquire proximity with Allah through the Imam.' (Tafsire Qummi, vol. 1 page 168).

Janabe Fatima Zahra (s.a.) proclaims in her sermon, 'Glorify Allah, whose majesty and supremacy command glorification and veneration. And it has been made mandatory upon the residents of the heavens and the earth to seek a mediator towards Allah, and we Ahle Bayt (a.s.) are the mediators appointed by Allah upon His creatures.' (Sharhe Nahjul Balagha, vol. 2, page 211, by Ibne Abil Hadid).


Thus Quran and traditions alike, exhort the Muslims to secure some arbitrator in order to gain proximity with Allah, and achieve eternal deliverance. Why seek mediation of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.)? Any Shia is bound to think, 'What is the rationale for us to seek mediation of our Imam?' There are several facets to this question.
1. The mandate of Quran and traditions Quran proclaims Translation, '0 you who believe! Be patient and excel in patience and maintain contact, and be careful oi your duty towards Allah, that you may be successful. (Ale Imran : 199
Imam Sadiq (a.s.) by way of elucidation of the above ayat narrates, Translation, 'Maintain a special affinity with your Imam.' (Noorus Saqalain, vol. 1 page 426}

Every Shia must maintain close ties with the Imam of his era. When weighed from the aspect of Arabic grammar, the word,) is based on "Rabatoo" which implies co-operation and mutual consent, i.e. if a Shia maintains proximity with the Imam of his time, then Inshallah the Imam will also reciprocate that feeling of affinity and consanguinity. Inshallah Imam's grace and clemency on us will multiply. To observe this bidding of Imam Sadiq (a.s.) is crucial, and we must spar no effort to secure that feeling of affiliation and proximity with our Imam (a.s.) in order: to gain Our Imam's (a.s.) special attention.

2. The status of Imam Mahdi (a.s.) Traditions accredit Imam (a.s.) with an august and majestic standing. In Dua Nudbah we recite, 'Imam (a.s.) is that door of Allah's mercy that we have to access so as to reach Allah.' He is a path towards Allah's satisfaction and grace. He possesses powers of intercession vis-à-vis the Almighty. He is among the Names of Allah, through which we have been commanded to seek mediation and arbitration.
As the Quran declares, (Translation, 'And Allah's are the best names, therefore call on Him thereby.' (Araaf : 180) An exegesis of this ayat reveals a tradition from the Aimmah (a.s.), viz., 'By Allah! We are the best names (asmaae husnaa) through which Allah has commanded the Muslims to invoke Him.' (Mikyalul Makarim, vol. 1 page 271)
Imam always responds to pleas of help and succour, as has been elucidated in his Ziarat. He never rebuffs the distressed and frightened. Indeed he is the means for the redemption of sins. He alone is the defender of the weak and oppressed. And this is the purport of the following statement of Ziarate Jameaa, 'One who has associated himself with you has triumphed, and the one who has sought asylum with you is protected.'

3. Observe this practice of turning to their chief in moments of anguish or when there is a fear of strike from the enemies. In fact this has also been the custom of the believers, who in times of distress and difficulties have left their affairs completely in the hands of their Imam (a.s.), and have sought redressal from him alone. As a matter of fact, among the responsibilities of Imam (a.s.), is that he provides refuge to the hapless and a retreat to the outcast. And in this regard it is observed that it a subject of any King is in distress and is confronted with a calamity or affliction then rationale suggests he should approach his leader, ruler, provided of course, the latter is virtuous and capable. Otherwise, then he will be the subject of intense criticism and censure. And likewise, if in our moments of indigence and grief, we turn to someone other than our Imam for assistance, then we have forsaken one of the crucial obligations enjoined by Allah upon the Muslims and run the risk of incurring His wrath. That crucial obligation has been expounded in 'Then disperse abroad and in the land and seek of Allah's grace.' (Jumaa : 10) By way of elucidation of the above verse Jabir b. Abdullah (r.a.) narrates from Masoomeen (a.s.), 'The grace of Allah mentioned in the ayat alludes to the Imams (a.s.). (Mikyaalul Makaarim vol. 2, pg. 273)
Besides, in the Quran, Allah commands us to enter a house only through its door. Likewise, Allah has designated an Imam in every era, through which the Muslims are commanded to 'enter' into Allah's grace and mercy. And the fact that the Imam (a.s.) of this era is in occultation does not in any way diminish his mediation and arbitration prowess vis-à-vis Allah; for an Imam is Allah's emissary on this earth, and to that extent there is no difference between an apparent Imam and a hidden one. Imam (a.s.) is aware of everything that goes around as he himself proclaims, 'Certainly, we with our knowledge are cognizant of all your affairs and your dealings are never concealed from us.' (Behaarul Anwaar, vol. 53, page 175).
In another tradition Imam (a.s.) asserts, Translation, 'We are never neglectful of your guardianship nor are we ever unmindful of your remembrance (Behaarul Anwaar, vol. 53, page 176) And no mountain, bulwark or curtain can ever act as an impediment for Imam (a.s.). In this regard, Syed Ibne Taoos has recorded a tradition in his book, 'Kashful Muhajjah'. 'A companion of Imam Ali. Raza (a.s.) narrates, 1 wrote a letter to Imam (a.s.). In the letter I mentioned about a person who wanted to offer his demands to Imam (a.s.); those demands that he sought from his God. Imam Raza (a.s.) replied that if he has any requirement, tell him to simply move his lips, and the response (from my side) shall reach him.' (Mikyal Makaarim, vol. 2, page 273)

In 'Al-Kafi', there is a lengthy tradition narrated by Imam Raza (a.s.), about the elevated station of an Imam. An excerpt of this important narration has been brought below so as to appreciate, although to a very limited extent, the compassionate nature of Imam. Imam Raza (a.s.) pronounces, Translation, 'Imam is a confidant, an aide, a sympathetic father, an affectionate brother, and a caring mother who nurtures her infant." (Al-Kafi vol. 1, page 200)

The above tradition provides us with a glimpse, albeit a fleeting one, of the immense love and affection Imam (a.s.) has for his Shias. Our affliction and grief disturbs him even more than it disturbs us. He treasures us more than our own parents. His love and regard for us exceeds that of the father. For any father is confronted with certain limitations which he just can not breach. For instance, a man's love for his son maybe boundless. In his intense endearment and attachment he maybe willing to dispense all his wealth, even if it is a few million rupees. However, there is a limit to his wealth and riches. And this limitation does not permit that father to expend any more wealth, even though he wants to. This is also the case for other comforts that the father maybe prepared to furnish, but can not due to his obvious limitations. However, these limitations do not impede Imam (a.s.). Imam (a.s.) is Allah's emissary on the earth. He is the Caliph designated by Allah over His creation, he is the Master of the age and exercises complete control over the universe, with Allah's permission. Man's intellect fails to comprehend the powers of the Imam (a.s.). As a matter of fact there is a separate chapter in Usule Kafi titled, I meaning 'The earth is only for Imam'. There is one tradition in this chapter, wherein Imam Sadiq (a.s.) recounts to one of his companions, (Usule Kafi, Kitabul Hujjat, vol. 1, page 48). Now that we are enlightened with the supreme authority of our Imam, it only follows that we advance our demands and needs in front .of him, knowing that he will fulfill our needs. He is a sympathetic father for his Shias, and the father always experiences a great deal of gratification in resolving his son's difficulties. Ways of seeking mediation with Imam (a.s.)

1. Dua (Supplication): Indeed, there is no paucity of means to invoke and beseech Imam (a.s.). In this . regard, the role of supplications cannot be over stressed. One supplication in particular has been reported in Mikyal Makarim, vol. 2,page 271; 0 Allah! I ask You for the sake of Your representative and Your Proof, Master of Time, that You help me through him in all my affairs. And Protect me through him from the difficulties of every torturer, dissident and rebel. (Please) help me through him for my efforts are exhausted. And Protect me from every enemy, grief, sorrow, debt, my children and all my family members, my brothers and my close ones, whose deeds do harm unto me. Aamin, Lord of the Worlds. (Behaarul Anwaar, vol. 94, p. 34.

2. Repeated invocation for assistance: An important invocation has been recorded in 'Mafatihul Jinnan', page 108 (Urdu edition). The invocation begins thus; An invocation is crucial, since it is through entreaties alone, that the afflicted beseeches his master. This invocation in particular, has some exceptional benefits for the Shias. Muhaddithe Noori in his celebrated work, 'Najmus Saqib', chapter 10 (concluding part), comments that within hours of reciting this invocation, his demands were miraculously fulfilled. Besides, there are numerous other instances wherein Shias have experienced immediate and untold results from its recitation.

3. Making a written presentation of one's needs to Imam (a.s.) This is a very simple and forthright medium of submitting one's demands to Imam (a.s.). Here, a Shia notes down his demands and aspirations and sends it to Imam (a.s.). In India, this practice is especially conspicuous on 15th Shabaan. On this day, the day of birth of our Imam (a.s.), Shias very enthusiastically list their demands on a piece of paper and cast the letters in the sea. However, should this practice be observed only on 15th Shabaan? Do we need our Imam's assistance only on the occasion of his birth? Or is it that a single occasion in a year is sufficient for advancing all our requirements, so that for the rest of the year we discern no need for Imam? God forbid, that is not the case! We must regularly write down our needs that we seek from Imam (a.s.). Surely we can devote some time at least once a week or fortnight to jot down our problems and our state of condition for Imam (a.s.) and then cast the letter in the sea or embed it in the earth. This is indeed very easy and requires minimal effort. However, neglect and preoccupation with the world has made us neglect this very important medium of mediation and arbitration with Imam (a.s.). And is it necessary that we write to Imam (a.s.) only in moments of distress, and never otherwise? Are we so self-centered that we can not even send a salutation (salaam) upon our Imam, without being confronted by some difficulty or problem??

4. Conversation with Imam (a.s.) This is another very facile mode of communicating with Imam (a.s.). Whenever a Shia finds himself alone, regardless of the time, he can converse with Imam (a.s.), first by sending his salutations upon Imam and then by narrating his plight and condition. Nothing can be simpler than this. Inshallah, even Imam (a.s.) will heed that Shia's narration and will pray for him. And every Shia must converse with his Imam at least once a day. For although Imam (a.s.) is aware of our state and condition, recounting to Imam (a.s.) our problems and dilemmas has its own appeal. Sayyed's Ibne Taoos' testament to his son exhorting him to seek mediation from Imam Mahdi (a.s.) Sayyed exhorted his son in his will thus, '0 my son Muhammad! Allah, the Almighty conferred His favor and benefit upon me through your birth. I found myself completely incapable and powerless in front of Allah and could never glorify Him fittingly for this favor. And out of gratitude for this bounty, and on Allah's commands, I beseeched Imam (a.s.) on your behalf and sought your servitude in Imam's service. And after that, the misfortunes that afflicted you were also resolved through his mediation and grace. I was graced by Imam (a.s.) in my dreams on several occasions, and he has alleviated my impoverishment with his bounties and favors. His benefaction upon you is too excessive for me to ever adequately express. That is why your love, affection, spirit of sacrifice and devotion for Imam (a.s.) should also be abundant. The extent of your attachment and disposition towards him (a.s.) should please Allah, and gladden the hearts of the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and his progeny (a.s.). 0 my son! Always give preference to Imam's wishes over your own. Pray for (the well-being of) Imam (a.s.) before you commence praying for yourself. Inculcate in yourself the practice of initiating all your works with 'sadaqah' for (the security of) Imam (a.s.), before you remove 'sadaqah' for yourself or for your loved ones. If you wish, to faithfully observe his rights, and draw his (a.s.) concern and regard towards yourself, always favor his self over your own. Beseech Imam (a.s.) with unwavering intensity and humility every Tuesday and Thursday, and seek your demands from him. And while seeking your needs from Imam (a.s.), send your salutations upon him and recite the following Ziarat (This Ziarat has been mentioned earlier.) Then recite the below mentioned verse '0 chief? Distress has afflicted us and our family and we have brought scanty money, so give us full measure and be charitable to us; surely Allah rewards the charitable.' (Yusuf: 88) This was a confession of intense regret and remorse expressed by the brothers of Hazrat Yusuf (a.s.) to their father (Hazrat Yaqoob ) and their brother. Hazrat Yusuf and Hazrat Yaqoob (peace be on both) displayed ample clemency and compassion, and forgave their sins. 0 our Master! Even if we have disobeyed Allah and distressed your ancestors (a.s.), please forgive us because 0 our Chief and Guardian, certainly you exceed Yusuf (a.s.) in his clemency, forbearance and compassion. Therefore please deal with us in a manner akin to Hazrat Yusuf's treatment vis-à-vis his brothers, while surely we are most undeserving of such leniency. (Barnoameh Sa'adat, by Sayyed Ibne Taoos) Innumerable instances of Imam's aid and succour Books abound with incidents wherein aid and relief provided by Imam (a.s.) bears ample testimony to Imam's concern and anxiety for his Shias. There are several books wherein such heartening incidents are reported viz., Behaarul Anwaar, Najmus Saqib, Trysts with Imam (a.s.), Jannatui Mawa, Riyazul Ulama, Minhajus Salah, Al Kalamut Tayyeb, Isbatui Huda, etc. Among those favoured with Imam's grace and presence and blessed with the opportunity to delight with a glance at his countenance were Bahrul Uloom, Aga Zainul Abedeen Salmee, Maulana Muhammad Hussain Qazveeni, AUama Muhammad Taqi Majlisi, Alama Hilli, Shaykh Hurre Ameli, Shaykh Mufeed, Shaykh Hasan Iraqi, Muqaddase Ardabali, Alt b. Mahziyar, Ismail Harqali, among others. As matter of fact every Shia is included in this list, because there exists not a single believer but Imam (a.s.) graces him with a benevolent glance, although most of us are neglectful of this fact. This is all the more perceptible in instances wherein we find ourselves engulfed in calamities with a vice like hold over us, leaving us disturbed, robbing us of our sleep. Then after a just few token entreaties and supplications we find ourselves alleviated in a flash. It seems almost unbelievable. The reason behind this sudden relief is Imam's benevolence and grace. Imam (a.s.) is never one to seek accolades and adulation, which is why he (a.s.) accomplishes his task and leaves in a hurry, knowing he (a.s.), he has a million other Shias to help. There is an incident involving a person who had lost his way. Imam (a.s.) came to his aid and directed him towards the right path. That person requested Imam (a.s.) to come with him to his house. Imam (a.s.) declined and replied that there were thousands of Shias who were entreating him at that very moment. He had to rush to their rescue just as he had rushed to his. (Mulakate Imam (a.s.) page 289) At least one point becomes crystal clear from the above-mentioned incident - Imam (a.s.) is perpetually engaged in providing relief.
